My son did some inventory searches and found a dealer in northern BC that still had some 2024 XLTs for sale. And at a whopping discount, $17,500 (incl $5K fed rebate) off of current MSRP ($78K) which had been reduced by Ford a couple times already in the last 2 years for this model. Another big bonus was 0% financing for 5 years. He had been saving to buy cash, but will now be putting that down on his mortgage which is up for renewal later in 2025. All in all a great deal for him.
Norther BC economy is in dire straits these days with lots of lumber mills shutting down. They sell mostly trucks up there, but with cold winters, EVs are not very popular up there. It was interesting to note however, that the EV XLT was actually cheaper that their equivalent ICE XLTs. So it seems this dealer was highly motivated to sell the remaining EVs (while Ford still had their big rebate on), and probably his ICE ones, too, given the economy there.
It's interesting also that these XLTs are selling for less than the bottom trim Pro work trucks. The reason is that they are also sold out, as they were aimed at fleet operators. Mostly govt and govt agencies bought them, which I believe also were given a big discount earlier.
Will be interesting to see what happens next year with the 2025s, as Ford has drastically cut back production, and with the new Trump administration might lose the tax credits in the US. Here in Canada, the rebates may also disappear if the Conservatives win the fed election next year. So 2025 may see a lot less EVs sold.
My son flew up there yesterday morning and drove it home (800 kms). Took a couple hours to complete the paperwork and insurance, so he didn't get underway until almost noon, but made it home by 10 PM. Did 3 charges enroute, but one was at a slower BC Hydro charger. I expected it to take longer so was surprised he made it that fast. It was winter up there, but they had a warm spell yesterday, so just had some showers driving, instead of snow, which made for a more pleasant trip. He was very pleased with the comfort of the vehicle and the ride.
It is a black truck, opposite of his white Tesla. Will post some pics when I see it, he'll probably drop by today to show it to us.
