Fog lights on a clarity

All of our testing was done during daylight. But there is a thread recommending installing fog lights on it.

Our climate in Ottawa Ontario is not so foggy but lots of days have whipping snow. The thread on lights seem to be contradictory with several people unhappy with the provided lights on the car. Would people who have driven the car at night recommend adding an LED fog light to the car?

Almost everyone is reporting that the headlights are barely adequate at best and that the high beams add very little.
I had the dealer adjust my headlights and they got a little bit better but still leave much to be desired. IMHO the low beams illuminate mostly too close to the car and thus seem bright, but don’t illuminate down the road very well. My high beams are rather anemic. As a result, I feel that it is very easy to overdrive the lights at higher speeds which is not terribly safe.
I am looking into auxiliary lighting options at the moment as I think it’s so poor as to be mandatory and not optional. Drive it at night and you will see what I mean.
Please post if you find it otherwise so we can have some more data points.

After driving at night I was ok with the Clarity lights but wound up installing a pair of 6” Rigid SR-Pro series lights behind the top grill. I never reIzed how many different brightnesses of lights there were out there to choose from and I went with the driving lights. It made a huge difference to night driving.

Can you please post some pics of the installation? Maybe the look from outside the grill? Were they a pain to install? Also did you tie into the headlight circuit? Just curious how you knew the fuses could take the extra load.

Under the risk of being permanently banned from further posts for admitting this, I paid to have them professionally installed. They are on a separate switch. I used Eastside Motoring I Waltham MA, and had it done at the same time as my window tinting. I will try to get pictures from them because they created custom mounting brackets so the lights could be hidden as much as possible behind the grill. Installation ran $400 plus the cost of the lights, which was about $3000 less then it would have cost me to do it myself after factoring in a new bumper to replace the one I would have certainly broken!

The look is good. Looks like they put some thought into it. $400 for the install doesn't sound bad to me. I agree that tearing out the front of the car would be dangerous for me to try. I did the horn replacement, but that is a lot easier than this. I haven't driven much at night yet, so I don't know yet how I feel about my lights. Its great to have an option if they are concerning once I get some experience with them. I really appreciate your post on this.

They put a lot of thought into it. I brought the car in twice before they did the work so we could discuss different options. Originally I was going to put them behind the lower grill, but didn’t want to cut out the plastic and worry about the lights being too hot. The Clarity headlights were fine for me, but now that I have the lights installed I can’t drive at night without them.

Rick should weigh in that to make sure, but here's what I found on-line after seeing what a difference it made in his car. He went with the 6"

Was driving late last night and realized that I can’t even tell if my brights are on or not. No one was flashing their lights at me, so I don’t think I’m blinding anyone.
