Likely a relay. Do you have a smart charger? Does the sound happen if you don't plug the car in?I've heard this sound several times lately, sometimes a few minutes after I parked the car in my garage and sometimes after the car has sat for many hours. My Clarity is a 2018 with about 30,000 miles, 95% driven electric.
Anyone have an idea what I am hearing?
Much louder than a relay. The sound always happens when the charger is not connected.Likely a relay. Do you have a smart charger? Does the sound happen if you don't plug the car in?
That could be a possibility.Could it be something that is heating up and then shifting as it cools (as the metal contracts)? I used to have a 2013 Chevrolet Volt that would give a loud pop from the hatch area due to this. It would happen sometimes when you were driving (not a nice distraction). One of the reasons I was glad to trade the car.
My garage floor is definitely inclined to the rear so the car always rolls back when I turn it off and release the brake. But the parking pawl is in the front as part of the engine assembly and the sound I get is in the rear.Could it possibly be from a slight incline in the garage floor causing the parking pawl engage when the car rolls ever so slightly?

I mostly hear the sound 10 or 15 minutes after I park the car in the garage, but I don't spend a lot of time in the garage unless I'm doing a project. I have heard the sound several times after the car has been parked for several hours and I am doing a project, so it probably does occur quite often.Does the sound only occur after a few minutes or after many hours but not after, say, 30 minutes or an hour and a half? Could it be occurring at regular intervals or at the very least, more frequently than you’ve reported?
Would you describe the sound in more detail?
Do you have any interesting theories of your own?
