Broke one of the rear lights on my F-150 Lightning Flash, and it turns out the replacement part is over $2500 from Ford. It's the whole corner light assembly and apparently there's a camera inside, but yeesh that costs more than my laptop did. Insurance company refused to cover the whole cost, but they did cover a significant amount.
There are aftermarket options, but each of those is over $500 and I'd probably want to replace both sides just to make sure there was no slight difference. So it was a wash for me financially, but how did Ford manage to design something so unreasonably expensive?
