Is the volcano affecting you?

I am a safe distance away, so there's no danger right now. Happily, the lava is in a pretty desolate area, miles from homes or businesses. It might, however, threaten the major east-west highway running across the island, which would cause considerable misery for some people and businesses. Now if the lava is still flowing 3 weeks from now -- not impossible, but no way to know -- it might approach spots where it could start torching buildings. Hopefully it settles down by then.

By the way, for any volcano fans, the USGS has posted a webcam livestream of the eruption. It's pretty wild.

Incredible footage, thanks for the link.;)

Except on the rare occasions when I go for a very long drive, I never let my car go below 50%, and usually not that low. I live in an area that has occasional drive-by hurricanes, but you always have at least a couple days' notice with them. If you're a little careful and attentive to things, it's unlikely to be a problem unless some truly unexpected, sudden catastrophe hits -- in which case you may have other things to worry about besides your car.
Curious, my practice:
  • 85% at home - so I have 'bug out' range to SuperChargers as needed. At home, I don't have to charge the batteries to voltage levels that accelerate the NMC degradation, 2170 cells.
  • 5-100% on the road - this is when I am going up to 700-750 mi per day or if needed, further.
