Ever changing specifications...

So I was using the build tool to compare a gasoline Mini and the SE and I noticed something that has changed since I last did this when we specced up our 2022 SE in late August...

When I was building an SE back then I had the ability to choose Dynamic Cruise Control as a maybe $750 option (I forget) but didn't bother with it.
When I go and try and build one now that option is no longer there.

Ah, parts shortage I thought!

But when I click on "view more" on the right hand side after selecting "Signature Trim" and then click on "Standard Features" it opens a new window with all the features listed and "Dynamic Cruise Control with braking function" is listed as a standard feature now.
Is this a mistake on the website or are they really including it?

The steering wheel says "heated" but I don't believe ours is despite being a 2022?

I also notice that "Park distance control" is not mentioned, just "rear view camera". This may explain why a recent poster here didn't have it on theirs...

Seems like there's quite a variance going on...
Mini giveth, and Mini taketh away...

Not sure about applicability among the various trim levels, but my 2022 Iconic has a heated steering wheel (that I actually learned about on this forum in the first place). The button switch to turn it on/off is on the left hand side of the steering column, so you might look there.

Heated steering wheel is a standard feature, the button is hidden on the left side of the steering column.

The dynamic cruise control with braking is confusing wording and is not the same as adaptive cruise control. The dynamic cruise just means that it'll use both power and brakes/regen to maintain the set speed (for example, if you're going down a steep hill).

Thanks @Texas22Step I'll take a look when we head out later as I was won deign where the button would be.

Taking another look at the website while the poppet that lists the standard features does not list Park Distance Control (but does when you build a gas car) it iOS mentioned in the "Signature Trim Features" list on the right hand side of the main build your own web page. So Mini are just not consistent with the way they list things...

Very annoying.

As far as I can tell, a gas Mini Cooper S in Signature trim is identical to an SE in Signature trim with the exception of also having a panoramic moonroof and Nappa steering wheel (although that doesn't mention heating)...

Ah!

Thanks for that clarification, it certainly fooled me! I assume the actual driver assistance package has disappeared due to parts shortage...

My first MINI (2010 Clubman S) came with rear fog light and headlight washers. I miss those, but they haven't been available for a really long time. My SE didn't even have a lot of options that are available now, those of us who ordered early basically got to choose trim level and that was it for customization. No racks/rails, no alarm system, and certainly not the new stuff like heated steering wheel or adaptive cruise control.

You get what you get for a model year, and MINI also happens to be in the process of changing model years along with all the shortages. That said, the build website for the SE has long been out of step with reality. Always confirm with your sales advisor what options are possible, they have a different view into the build process.

Well you could always get base audio for your 2022 Electric Collection, Shadow Edition, or Iconic/Level 3+ build! Didn't lumbar support get removed midway through the 2022 production?

I have the signature trim and the heated steering wheel and rear sensors, w/o any extra packages.

I found the heated steering wheel button by mistake, but it's been nice on cold mornings.

Log into MyMiniGarage. What does it say? Under standard features for my Signature model it lists heated steering wheel and park distance control(rear).

I tried to add adaptive cruise control when I ordered in November but it is no longer available due to the chip shortages. I have seen another 2022 Signature that was at a local dealer in November that had this option.

Similar experience here: I opted for the $750 Driver Assistance Package (Active Cruise Control + Parking Assistant) when I ordered my Signature Plus in early September, and the system accepted my order initially, but once my car showed up in MyGarage on MINI’s site that option was missing from the build — and I later learned that’s because it had been deleted as a result of the chip shortage.

At least one or two other owners here who had ordered that option on their Signature or Signature Plus cars and picked them up either not long before I got mine or not long afterward did have the option included on their cars, though…so my impression is that some days or weeks they have the parts and other days or weeks they don’t, and it’s just kind of a “luck of the draw” kind of thing if your car is scheduled for production when they happen to have the parts in stock.

I have manual lumbar adjustment on my level 3 which I’ve had for just over 4 weeks now. It has the satellite grey leather seats.
Over here in the UK the heated steering wheel is a £250 option, even on the level 3 trim. Well worth it for cold starts though and it’s one of my favourite things in the car. Adaptive cruise control is also a £300 option on the Level 3 and it was the only option I didn’t select as it’s camera based rather than radar based, but I don’t think I’d have got it anyway even if I had selected it due to the chip shortage. Park assist (with the required front and rear sensors) is standard on the Level 3 and mine did come with it, as did the HK system. I had been concerned that they may have been deleted due to the shortage but I think they were keeping bits for trim levels where these things were part of the standard spec. It would be disappointing if they withheld the PDC sensors from Level 1/Signature models to ensure those cars which have Park Assist as standard still get it. Like many here, I spent many years of my driving life in cars without these extras because they didn’t exist, but I wouldn’t buy a car without them these days.

As others have said, the heated steering wheel button is indeed on the side of the steering column. So nice to have.
However that is without doubt the worst place for such a button I have ever seen. Or rather not seen, but felt around to find. Half concealed by the reach/rake adjustment.
And at the same time I have a blanking space on the center console. Go figure…

Agreed, never understood the "hidden" steering wheel heater, but having it for the last 4 years in that place it's become an easy automatic motion on cold mornings. A big part of my draw to the SE was my previous 10 years with BMW. I LOVE the iDrive, and expect the transition to the SE will be seamless.

I used iDrive back when it was new and hated it.
I used a similar system on Mercedes about 2 years ago and hated that even more.

However unlike those two the Mini is a touchscreen also, so you can use either.
But that said the iDrive aspect of the Mini (and presumably modern BMW) is so much better than the original BMW system that I can get along with it. I do like they have the touchscreen for things like address entry though.

LOL, yes, I can see how it would be hated. The recent iterations have been great, and the buttons are second nature now, and I welcome the touchscreen when I might need it. Having been driving a 2017 m240i for 5 years I can see how the touch will be useful, though my OCD will also probably keep from using it too much. HATE fingerprints!!

Oh, it's OPPOSITE?? That's annoying, indeed. And bizarre. Why would they change that? Taking solace that the shifter is the same, though.

I'd rather have the hidden heating steering wheel button on the steering column than some brands that leave empty space to remind you that you didn't buy the fully loaded trim/options.
