Elon figures working for Tesla is more appealing than working in California. It also culls some workers who value California over working at Tesla.

I'm just surprised Fremont and the other California properties aren't scheduled for relocation.

His war on California and his big mouth isn't helping sales in California. California has been Tesla's biggest market in the USA.

I've been listening to the battery bargains podcast. Too often folks are not interested in a Tesla due to Elon. That's good news for the competition.

I don't think they are moving from Fremont anytime soon.

Plus didn't they open a manufacturing facility for battery storage in California?

I hadn't heard. I understand New York makes the megapacks and SuperChargers. As for California vs Tesla/Musk, that war has been going on from when Tesla made Fremont work after Toyota/GM screwed it up.

What may make sense is to downsize California and add small, research labs near leading, engineering and scientific universities. Use them as a sort of 'farm team' to filter the 'best and the brightest.' Given Elon's "-10%" management style, the tenured teachers are not going to jump ship but they can feed clever youngsters that way.
