Dyno results on Cooper SE Signature

As I recall, the owner said it was the torque curve. They were unable to get a HP reading since they had no way to read motor RPMs.

Strange, as the graph is clearly labeled power, which is readily calculable (at the wheels, anyway) without knowing anything at all about what the motor is doing.

I'm wondering if it's traction control, which can't be totally disabled. And as the video states, the SE was super unhappy about stationary rear wheels.
Traction control can be disabled (as far as I know) by holding down the lever. There’s Dynamic Traction Control On/Off and all Traction Control off when you hold it down.

Yeah it isn’t fully disabled unless you delve into the “hidden” service menu and enter roller mode.

Covered in the traction control thread, but not fully deactivated:

driver has full control except in extreme cornering or acceleration

That secret roller mode is intriguing.

That "roller mode" reminded me of VW's Dieselgate scandal. The EPA's tests are precisely defined so automakers can perform the same testing as they design their cars. However, knowing the conditions for those tests, VW was able to program their diesel vehicles to recognize when they were being tested and respond by changing settings to reduce the amount of polluting nitrogen oxide emissions.

About the legitimate need for special test modes, in a 2015 article about Dieselgate the Washington Post wrote:

Using a special engine setting for vehicle tests isn’t all that unusual, according to Consumer Reports. Most new vehicles do something similar because otherwise vehicles might interpret some of the testing procedures, like traction issues from being on rollers, as dangerous. But the problem here is that the EPA says the carmaker used its testing mode in an inappropriate attempt to beat the system.

So the need for a "roller mode" makes perfect sense. I believe I can safely assume MINI doesn't have any secret EPA test modes that reduce the SE's emissions. And, thanks to Dieselgate, VW made amends by creating Electrify America and going EV in a big way.
