Does North American infotainment system play video files?

Was reading a SpeakEV forum where Kona drivers in the UK said they could play USB videos in MP4 format on the infotainment system, as 'media', when they were charging.

Is this possible on this side of the pond? I tried a few different videos and formats a while back, but no go.

Possibly there is a restriction to prevent folks from watching a movie while driving?
 
The danger aside (YMMV), I read somewhere that there is an APP in the Google Play store that works with Android Auto to play movies. No idea though what the name of that was.
 
The Aus software will play mp4 from my old Samsung Galaxy S7, but won't play mp4s from my new S21 Ultra. It won't play mov files either. Very picky!
