I definitely don't have a MINI logo on the ground but there's light projected on the ground near the door...

I'd think it's purpose would be to illuminate puddles as you exit the car but I guess it's called something other than a puddle light!

As far as I know it's called a puddle light.

I have the MINI logo on the driver side, which is emitted from the bottom of the rearview mirror. I just discovered there's a light on the underside of the passenger door, which acts as a puddle light.

Earlier MINI models had puddle lights on the bottom of the driver door, and you could change the filters to get different projected images.
 
I ordered puddle lights for the door with the union jack off a China eBay seller a few weeks ago. Should be here in about a month.
 
Well today I finally picked up my Enigmatic Black Level 3 SE and I love it. It’s been a busy day so Ive only driven it a couple of miles home from the dealer but I will have time over the next few days to get to know it. Everything that should have been on it was; HK system, steering wheel heater, sun protection glass etc. As I mentioned on another thread, I got some custom graphics added to the car ahead of pick up and I’m really happy with the results. Really ties the car together :) The bonnet stripes are standard Cooper style with energetic yellow pinstripes, and the side stripes are based on the style of the 1499GT, though with energetic yellow otters and a black inner stripe. The black stripe has the Cooper logo cut out with a nice yellow S added. Probably not to everyone’s taste but I love it. The only problem is that I can’t get a code from Mini Connected to connect the car to the app. I tried it at the showroom and i]the code didn’t appear but the manager said it’s been taking an hour or two recently. He said if it hadn’t appeared by this evening I’d to call him in the morning and they’d plug it in and manually connect? Still no code 8 hours later so I guess I’ll be heading back to the dealer. He did say the update had been done, but clearly there’s still an issue. Anyway, it’s annoying but it’ll get fixed. The main thing is that I finally have my Mini!

Edit: I initially didn’t go for the piano black exterior but changed my mind in early November. Dealer recommended not changing the order in case I lost my place in the queue and said they’d install the trim. They did that but as you; see in the photos I didn’t bother doing the side scuttles as I didn’t think it would be very noticeable. I was wrong so they will be changing soon either by vinyl wrap or just replacing the scuttle. Belt line trim might be next.

Your SE with all the custom graphics looks fantastic, Speedy! Congrats on the sweet new ride!

My BRG Signature+ arrived at the port in Baltimore on Dec. 10, was placed aboard a truck on Dec. 16, and landed at my dealer here in Pittsburgh the next day, this past Friday, Dec. 17.

Here’s a fun fact: The “At the Dealership” alert in the online MyGarage tracker is the 17th stage (out of 18 total), which was reached on the 17th of the month, and my new SE will be my 17th car. :cool:

So cool to have a photo of your SE on the transporter!

I have a photo of our Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid coming off the top of the trailer, but my MINI dealer was going out of business the day after my delivery, so my pleas to get them to take a photo on the transporter went unfulfilled.

In 2000 I was very peeved that no one at the Honda dealership took a photo of my first-in-midwest Honda Insight in the single-car carrying enclosed truck that drove straight from California to Michigan. I saw the Honda VV prototype at the January, 1999, Detroit Auto show, put down my deposit the next day, and waited 13 months for delivery (a month longer than I waited for my SE, which arrived just before September 2020).
 
Meet Miles*, my second MINI (after my ‘05 Convertible) and my first electric car! I placed my order in early September and was initially expecting delivery in late October/mid-November, but supply-chain issues actually delayed production until then. I just picked him up on Monday — ended up becoming an early Christmas present for myself!

I originally ordered an Iconic but a couple weeks later changed my order to a Signature Plus after deciding that I didn’t want to miss out on the retro appeal of the cloth seating options available on the middle trim level and all of the chrome accents standard on both of the lower trim levels.

The only Iconic features I didn’t want to do without were Active Cruise Control and Parking Assistant, so I included in my order the $750 Driver Assistance Package that bundles both of them together, but unfortunately the chip shortage ended up deleting that package from my car. o_O

I’ve been really enjoying the car so far but haven’t had a ton of time yet to drive it a lot or post much about it. But when I did finally find a couple hours to explore some new-to-me twisty rural backroads on Thursday, Miles did not disappoint! :D

I’ve mostly been lurking for several months and have only started posting in recent weeks, so I wanted to say THANK YOU for the very valuable info all of you share here; it’s certainly been helpful to me, and I’m looking forward to learning a lot more, throwing in my two cents wherever I can, and hearing more of your stories in the months and years to come.

So again, big thanks, and Merry Christmas! :)

(*And in case you’re wondering, I named him Miles because I wanted to give him a classic British name, and I especially love the way it ironically pokes fun at the SE’s famously limited range. ;)

The various meanings associated with the name Miles — dear, pleasant, gracious, merciful, soldier, servant — don’t hurt, either. Neither do its German origins, similar to a particular car of our acquaintance.

And while it didn’t factor into my naming decision, bonus points for this fun fact: The first album to come out of the so-called “electric period” of jazz great Miles Davis, probably one of the best-known historical figures to ever bear the name, was titled “In a Silent Way.” :cool:)

We traded a much loved 2012 Honda Fit. It was time. After only 30 miles in the SE, I completely understand your dilemma. The MINI actually replaces my wife’s car . . .
 
After a week with the SE, I thought I'd share some first impressions FWIW. I also want to thank all of you on the forum for your thoughtful advice and contagious enthusiasm!
  • Cold. It's been very cold since I picked up the car Tuesday. It crested the freezing mark today, but most of my commuting has been in the +F teens. Pre-conditioning, heated seats, heated steering wheel, interior temps set at 65F -- always very comfy. So far, anyway, power reductions to 60% or 70% have been frequent, but acceleration is always 'adequate' as the Rolls folks would say.
  • Range. My average after 400 miles is 2.9mi/kw. ~70 mile RT commute, about 2/3 interstate and 1/3 mountain roads. I've been in various modes and driven various speeds, through various amounts of winter road goop. But the biggest impacts are probably from temperature and tires, based on what I've read here. I opted for the MINI winter wheel package, 175 section dunlop winter sport something, blah blah.
  • Winter traction. Extremely good. Roads around here are well maintained, but we are on a mountain, and our driveway is 100' at 20%. We've prided ourselves on sticking to FWD and Blizzaks (blizzarks?) on a 2011 Honda fit and a 2018 civic sport hatch. Both are manuals and the Fit in particular is an excellent snow car. The MINI is just as good.
  • Handling, ride, etc. It feels like it could be quite sporty if it weren't for the super scrawny snows. It is more stiffly sprung than the civic, but it will be interesting to see how it compares in the summer. My money is still on the civic for fun in the twisties (go on, have at me! :D).
  • Design and ergonomics. Characterful and fun. But also sort of bizarre. Steampunky. Also, I love the color, and the fact that it almost perfectly matches Vermont plates.IMG_4992.webp

I’m a new owner, too, and to my knowledge haven’t encountered this myself or heard reference to it before.
