This is a very scary photograph and I apologize to those awaiting their MINI Cooper SEs for contributing to their anxiety. Over a year ago the MV Golden Ray capsized just off the port of Brunswick, Georgia, before it could deliver the cars in its hold. This ill-fated ship didn't appear to be carrying MINI Coopers, thank goodness (and MINI Cooper SEs didn't start shipping until this year). A Coast Guard spokesman said, "We estimate that it will be the largest wreck removal in terms of cost in U.S. history." The shipper's insurance company paid to bring in an amazing, giant catamaran/crane ship that used chains to cut the MV Golden Ray into pieces and load each piece onto a barge to be hauled away for dismantling and recycling. The fascinating story with videos and more photos is on jalopnik.com.
