Clarity BEV range

I made a 80 mile trip and was afraid I'd have to charge along the way.
I not only made the 80 miles without charging but I had about 40 miles left on arrival.

Most of the time was spent fighting Los Angeles traffic.
Averaging about 4.4 miles per Kilowatt.
 
The range you are getting (and avg miles/kw hour) is pretty incredible. I've had my Clarity since Thanksgiving and have put about 800 miles on it so far. I've yet to take it on a long drive (beyond 50 miles), but I would be surprised if I could get 100 miles out of a charge.

I've made a point of driving it pretty conservatively, using the regen whenever possible, using the climate preconditioner in the morning to heat the car while it's plugged in, keeping Eco mode engaged...about as efficient as I could possibly be, and still only averaging 3.3 miles/KW. That said, I leave the climate control set to 67-68 on Auto most of the time, as turning it off altogether lets the windows fog up pretty quickly. The mornings have been cold (30s and 40s), so I know the heater use has a big impact on range.

I'm curious, to get 80-100 miles out of a charge, I assume you are leaving the climate control off? My range indicator usually shows a 15-25 mile reduction when I switch the climate control on, although that penalty usually lessens as the temps rise in the afternoon (been in the 60s during the day).

I'm encouraged by the numbers you both are seeing - and I'm sure my efficiency will increase as we move into spring. We absolutely love this car - short range and all - because it fits our needs for a commuter perfectly, but I would like to take it on a longer drive one of these days just to see if my max really is around 60 miles (as indicated) or if I can stretch it closer to 80 or 90 with the climate control on.

You can turn on the fan only. Fan only at speed 2 will reduce the range by 2 miles. I've driven it in 40-50 degree weather and had no reduction in range.
 
Sounds like the range mostly exceeds the estimate. I'm a current fit EV driver and I'm considering the clarity electric. Any fit EV drivers with a range comparison? I lose 40% of my range in cold weather below 60 degrees with no heat being used at all. Wondering how the clarity fares in similar conditions.
 
I am so envious of you folks that can get the BEV. I have the PHEV and I’m loving it but for the sweet deal they’re doing on the BEV I would absolutely pick up a lease on a second one. After the CO rebate, it would practically be free.

Also, I love that blue!
 
I was interested to find out how my Clarity BEV would do on a long climb. I took it up a 3900 foot elevation gain (almost 3/4 mile elevation gain), over a distance of 18 miles, starting with a fully charged battery. At the top, my display showed I was getting 1.9 miles per kWh on the climb, and a little more than half of a full charge left (about 55%, I'm guessing). The Range indicator showed 33 miles of range left (maybe optimistic, if I had continued climbing). After descending back to the starting point, there was still more than half of the battery charge left, maybe a bit more than at the top, due to regeneration on the downhill. The Range indicator is very much influenced by your recent driving, so at the end of the downhill return trip, it estimated way more miles remaining (130) than at the top, apparently assuming I was going to continue downhill indefinitely.
