charging weirdness

Have a three year old SE. Charge almost exclusively with the original level 1 EVSE at home. A few weeks ago, after plugging in, charging would stop after a minute or two (unable to charge). If I unplugged from car and then plugged in again, sometimes it took a few tries, it would charge fine. I took it to dealer last week, along with our charger, but they had the same problem with theirs, so it's the car not the charger. It appears to be a KLE control unit. Will see if replacing it fixes the issue.

I’m charging only on L2 in my garage and and issue was for long time to plug unplug on reduced charge but I get my charge now for a past year no problem max charge all the time once I changed 14-50 Nema Hubbell only my sugestion is to change a receptical for new one and the best you can get bc if is old could be corroded And L 1 on regular outlet can solve a issue
 
I just had the same thing happen. I'm using the BMW/Mini supplied L1 charger. I rarely use a public charging
unit, and never had an issue when I did. Twice now at home, I plug in, and the app signals that the
car is not charging. I go through the unplug/plug routine, even closing the door and opening to start
from ground zero. Today no luck doing this. As a last ditch effort, I cycled the door plunger in and out while the cord was connected,
which worked. Any thoughts/experiences. I hate intermittent issues. Side note, the charger is only three months old.

I have the same issue which I have posted here before. I was just up at my Mini Dealer in Ft Myers FL for the second time for this issue and they decided it was the Mini supplied charge cable. They said they would replace it under warranty so they took the cable because they need it before that can get a new one from Mini. I pointed out that this was an electric car and it need the cable to charge. They said Huh? Fortunately I also have a L2 Charger at how so I will be fine. Got it back and had, as before, the same charge fault with the L2 charger. I called up to the dealer and sent them a picture of the RED dash notification. They are puzzled to say the least.

There are two realities here. 1. It is really more of an annoyance since after unplugging and reinserting the charge handle it usuall charges with out a problem. 2. Most of the dealership service departments are, even after 4 + years of electric Minis, clueless as to how they work. Just not enough of them I think.
 
One other note on this: It all started after the software update last fall for the "Thermal events"
I give up on that issue L2 in my garage plug / unplug long time ago basically since I have a car 3 1/2 year ago I posted many times before about it As update before and after thermal protection on H V battery nothing changed But for that problem as past year I charged my SE on public charging L2 stations about 50 times once a week NEVER happened ever not ONCE ! But I said previously public charging stations are running on comercial 3 face of 208 Volts and home L2 runs on 240 Volts 2 face and no dealer can’t explain this to me why this happened in my garage I believe is some floss in design at BMW charging system . My L2 charger was send to manufacture for check too.
 
I've been using an L2 charger exclusively since it was installed, and I have never had any problems. That's over 32,000 miles.

Who I should blame for my problem 20000 miles and I have that issue from a time I bring a car to my L2 charger which was being use on I3 for 7 years as I said I send to manufacture for check up but how to explains public L2 works perfectly good.a charger L2 is Creeper Creek 32 amps As was a problem with chips supplay what year is your SE Mine 2022 A dealer are useless as they have comercial hooks up 208 Volts 3 phase

FYI, a three phase circuit divides the current over three wires, two phase between two wires. So there is more current per two phase wire and that can push a poor/marginal connection over the limit (usually the outlet but could be the car's internal charger).
I talk to my energy supplier and as long I have 240 V .their national standard is 225=250 V. My outlet is Hubbell which is the best what I can have and I have to live with it .My neighbor have 3 different EVs and don’t have any issues with L2 charger the issue is SE in my estimate.After thermal update SE automatically switching to low charging 16 amps .maybe this low slower charging is going to prolong live my HV battery as I never charged on DC

There is no such thing as "208V, three-phase level 2 charging" in North America. Public L2 stations may be powered by common 208VAC circuits, but those are single-phase. The J-1772 standard doesn't accommodate three phases.
 
Right, but that's not actually "two-phase" charging. It's still split-single-phase, but instead of running 240V potential to ground, it's supplying juice at 208V potential to ground on each leg. So a municipal or commercial L2 EVSE can only charge our wee SEs at 6.6 kW.

Note, I'm neither an electrician nor an electrical engineer; others here have far more technical knowledge and can describe this much better than I am able.
 
I agree that if your car's internal charger is faulty, it could be limiting the AC charging performance.
I had to have my module replaced (I forget the module name). There are two relays inside, and one of them stopped working in my SE so I was getting reduced charging during Level 2 (this is in the US). DC fast charging worked normally, since it goes directly to the battery.
