charging lid not opening

I've had problems with my charging lid not opening and wondered if anyone else has had any problems with this and whether there's a way to fix it without going to the dealership. I bought my Clarity in 2018 and it's now out of warranty so I'm hoping to avoid going through them. I used to be able to push the button inside the car even if the car wasn't turned on and it would automatically open. But lately, sometimes it won't open unless I turn on the car or try several times which suggests to me that it's an intermittent issue. Generally I have been able to get it open but it seems to not open more often than not lately.

Have you tried the button on the fob? If it consistently opens the door it's in the car's switch. If it's also intermittent it's not the switch.

I didn't realize you could open it from the key fob.

I didn't know for a year after I bought mine because i never had a need to.

There is a manual release by the drivers left foot. A small yellow L shape handle.
