There have been some complaints from taller people (taller than me, it appears) who have a problem where their knee hits the "wings" on the center console (where the drive select buttons are). Followed by speculation about whether they could be modified.
In case it helps anyone, here are Honda's disassembly instructions for that part of the trim. [Formally this is the Central Console Panel.] Unfortunately, a) it would look pretty unfinished without the wings; and b) there doesn't appear to be much reason for them at all, which is annoying.
I do use mine to hold my cellphone.
If you were to remove the right side of the wing as I did on the left, you would loose the second attachment bolt. There is a bolt under each heated seat switch. The console remains solid with one side removed. With both removed, that would not be the case.
Paul, thank you for that tip. I sort of see how you finished it off, would like to know how Areosmith finish of the side of his, maybe carbon fiber based on the look of his customized steering wheel! Before I jump into this project, does anyone know how this would affect the warranty?
Looks comfortable! thanks for posting those pictures. Just brought home the Clarity from the dealer about 15 minutes ago. I could not drive because of surgery (bought the Clarity last Wednesday, Surgery on Friday) on a tendon in my right foot, so my wife was driving. She had not seen or driven the car yet, said she loves the seat and her right knee does not touch the wing, so that is good. If she felt what I felt on the test drive, it would have been the end of life as I knew it !!! That wing is really useless!!!
Something like this maybe? https://www.command.com/3M/en_US/co...529207+3294737338&preselect=3293786499&rt=rud
How did you get rid of the wing?I got rid of mine and used a piece of real wood for trim. MUCH better. I'm 6'3".View attachment 6913
6'1" here, and work in a prototyping shop with access to great tools. This was my way of dealing with the wings in April of 18.. along with a few other items

I know this post was too much time back ago but if you are still around, can you share where did you get the pictured items?, the steering wheel looks great (pretty much for the leg clerance) and the plastic around the screen, did you get in Amazon. I tried to find something that may fit the screen like this one.6'1" here, and work in a prototyping shop with access to great tools.
