9E2E6E4F-B3F0-4391-A33F-7CBA38C67D12.webpI used an iOttie vent mount from my previous car.

Now that I finally have my car, I've had some time to experiment with a mount setup that I think I'm finally happy with!

Generally speaking, I prefer magnetic mounts to other styles (e.g. suction or clasp). To that end, this is what I'm doing in my Clarity.

I've placed a magnetic mount on the left-hand side of the 'bridge' and I simply place my phone on that when I enter the car. I'm using a Vava Magnetic Phone Mount for this purpose. The mount includes a thin metal disc that I've attached to the inside of my phone case.

Note that the magnets that came with the particular cable clips I bought aren't great, so I've added an additional tiny rare earth magnet to 'boost' the holding power. As for the USB cable, it's three feet long and I needed to hide the excess, so I coiled it up and used some Sugru to attach it to the underside of the gear selector - it's maybe not perfect, but I can't see it from where I'm sitting. Out of sight, out of mind. :)

I bought the exact same mount but I haven't installed it yet. How well does the adhesive stick to the fake wood trim on the console wing? That is where I want to put it too and my only concern is the texture on the "wood".

It seems to adhere perfectly well so far. The first 24 hours or so it seemed like it could fall off if I moved it hard enough, but after that the adhesive began to stick more tightly. Now I don't think it's going anywhere without significant force!

I purchased 2 stick on low profile magnets and stuck them below the floating console. This keeps my phone easy to use with Android auto and it takes no room. My only complaint is that I then to forget it when I get out of the car as it's not in sight (which is one of the things I like about it). I used both one for the driver side and the other for the passenger. I'ts nice to be able to grab it very easily and you can place it back without ever taking your eyes of the roads.

I love this idea that you had. Also, I had never even thought of the magnetic cable clips. Thank you for the pictures.

I too use magnetic mounts in both cars and at my home computer station. They are instant to use, stick well enough to turn the phone to landscape mode without it slipping, and are instant to remove.

I also use a magnetic USB cable on many devices around the house. Instant power to the phone, or if your an Android Auto person, instant connect to the car. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071CFJC3S/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Got a magic mount from Costco that suctions onto the dashboard trim. It’s been on since December and hasn’t come off yet.

I'm a happy Clarity PHEV owner since mid-May. I have a couple of accessory questions.

Has anyone found a way they particularly like to mount a cell phone on the dash? Being an iPhone user that prefers Google Maps -- particularly for the offline map feature -- CarPlay doesn't do it for me (not to mention that my aging 5s periodically drops its USB connection, so Bluetooth has been my connection of choice, but I do like to glance peripherally at the screen while navigating since the timing of GM's prompts can lead one to turn one street too early). In our old car we have an iottie windshield mount phone holder, but that doesn't seem to viable in the Clarity. I've simply set the phone in the groove created by the info display and leaned it against the vents, but it tips over occasionally when turning.

Also, does anyone have a specific lumbar cushion and/or seat pad they've put in their Clarity and are happy with? I haven't tried any yet but I gather not all pads fit all seats.

Thanks in advance!

I tried a bunch of lumber solutions. In the and, the air bubble packaging works best for me. Good price, too :)

There is one they sell at Costco which I bought, a bit bulky for my taste. I'll share a picture as soon as I have a chance.

We use a magnetic mount. This one has a small plate that we stuck to the shift wing. The whole magnetic mount, minus the small plate, can be removed because there are magnets on both the top and bottom. The magnets are very strong. I use the same mount on my computer desk at home.

Can you send a link of this mount product. Thanks!

Here’s a couple photos of my iOttie phone holder suction-attached to passenger side under the bridge thingy. Love the location while driving. Only downside is that passengers will likely bump with their knee. Will have to see how that works out. (Big thanks to Michael Borquez... up above there for the idea!)

Michael Borquez, ZedFez, Does that work for more than a week or so? I have never been able to have the suction cups stay on the windshield never mind some other material.

Michael - Assuming you’re referring to the iOttie?... I only had the phone mount in the location from my photos for a couple of weeks. The suction stayed just fine... just moved it to a location I liked better. Now I have the same phone holder mount located on the ledge behind the tablet display, (somewhat in front of the center vent). Believe it or not, it fits there. I didn’t think it would. In the past year, it’s only come off maybe 4 times or so. I simply re-attach it and it stays there just fine. Good luck!
