CarPlay Message Notifications Not Working

I no longer get CarPlay message notifications. I don't know if this could be an iOS 18 issue, or a post-HV battery recall, or something that happened when my car's charging system was essentially rebuilt.

Anyone else having this issue? And does anyone know how to reboot the infotainment system? I tried deleting my phone from the car and re-pairing it, and also "hold radio power button for 30 seconds" as found on MINI UK but it didn't work.

For some reason, a few weeks ago I STARTED getting notifications on my Android phone signaling the start and completion of charging. I normally use the app only to precondition the interior on cold days.
 
The last app update defaulted to pushing notifications. The one coming in March has a few good improvements, mostly under the hood.

Foe what its worth, I haven't updated to OS 18 yet, but have all the SE recall updates. I get the imessage notifications and car play reads them to me, etc as before the recall work. Currently on iOS 17.5.1.
