I know this is primarily about ev cars but if anyone can help me that would be great

I have about £10000 and was wondering what I should do with it get a ev or a solar battery system

Average electric utility bill greater than average petrol bill? PV

Drive often, but electricity bills are reasonable ? EV
 
Own your home? Intend to stay 10+ more years ?
Heating/cooling apparatus type?

Well sealing windows, doors and attic insulation might be a better return in reduced power consumption and general comfort of your home.

EV payoff is dependent on distance driven each year.

10,000 gbp won't buy much car but it will offset electric usage, provided your utility credits your excess production through "net metering".
 
you do know you can get both, right?

at least in europe there are 2 german car prototype hitting the market this year which have solar power and even an outlet.
