Has anyone heard if Hyundai is extending the battery warranty once it's replaced? I've heard GM is doing that for the Bolt. A fresh start at 160,000 km or 8 years on the battery - or at least the replaced cells, if that was the fix.
A small sample of people with completed replacement have said that in Canada the warranty is from the ORIGINAL purchase date.

Here's a screenshot of the part of the email regarding the Chevy Bolt's battery warranty being extended.

Thanks for the photo XTSKonaTrooper.
What year is your Kona and trim level? Just trying to figure out battery part numbers.

Still trying to figure out the AS number on the part number. I googled the part and it looks like in my case (2021 Kona Preferred) the AS part number is a replacement to the original part number.
Also, interestingly enough it is discounted by 30%....getting cheaper?

Next week , wife is taking a little mini vac (fm me lol) to visit a friend over 500km away. I should have better range values after she drives it, but for some reason it's seems I'm getting less range but maybe it's cuz of weather changing.

Do you have a copy of this $5/day? I'm now in the situation where I'll be requiring this!

I got this info from Roman at Hyundai and my service manager it was an internal memo to dealerss no paper work typical hyundai no one knows anything LOl..

Well color me surprised.
I reached out to Hyundai customer service 2 weeks ago, exchanged a few emails with them and they said they'd reach out to my dealership to 'Escalate" battery replacement. Expected nothing out of it.
Lo and behold ; got a call out of the blue Friday to come in next (this) week to get my battery replaced! 2019 Kona purchased in June 2019, production April 2019. I'll believe it once the switch is done... Will ask for the 5$/day but already know nobody will have a clue about this @ dealership as usual...

Glad to hear that you are moving ahead.
Can you please post a picture of your current (old battery) and the replacement battery after it is installed?
Thanks

Will do.
Current (original/old) battery is 37501-K4050, ROM ID : 6240 (produced 2019/04/12), new battery going in tomorrow technically.

Class action lawsuit time? I'm very disappointed and annoyed at Hyundai Canada's handling of all this...
Unless you have experienced a successful exposure to the justice system, the last thing you would want to do is naïvely invite that system to soak up more of your time and wealth than what you will ever see in any settlement.

YMMV

I had a call from my dealer more than a month ago and was told I was next in line for a new battery. No more calls. I call them a few days ago and they said my battery never arrived even though hyundai told them it was coming. Still waiting. Dealer said they have scheduled 20 months to replace the batteries. So I guess my wife has a year and half to wait.

I'm getting peeved again by the wait and the radio silence. I go through phases where I'm calm and then *wham* I get pissed all over again.

I made a regular trip at 80% last week and arrived home with the low battery warning for the first time ever. Come January I would be stranded. Definitely not cool.

Geez ...that sucks.

That was my biggest fear. Come winter 80% range is pretty limited.
I guess Hyundai doesn't care alot of customers are getting pissed off.

Well to add to all the confusion I was at my dealer today. This is what I was told. Transport Canada is turning the screws on Hyundai to get the batteries replaced ASAP. My dealer told me they are complying. LOL.

I was told I was next and the battery is on the way. Regarding the $5.00 a day since June 1 2021. I ask him again. He said he hadn't heard of that. So he is new. So he went to the head guy and return and said Yes. When your Battery is replaced then you will get $5.00 a day from June 1 to the date you get your new Battery. So if and when you do get your new battery don't let your service guy say no etc. It's out there and we all know one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing. If you don't believe this Phone Ramon at customer service he will tell you what I just told you.. I think LOL... PS I still love my Kona.

Let me suggest something complain like hell about not getting the full warranty, if all of us do that then they might change their minds. Mention the GM Bolt..

Well I think if there is any truth to what they said about Transport Canada , maybe that's where we need to complain too. I've just gotten my battery replaced but that was after complaining and writing emails/letters. I still like the Kona but it will take me some time to get confidence that this issue has been solved. My wife is still terrified of it and she use to love it more then me. I mentioned the 5 buck a day thing but the Service manager said he would look into it and get back to me but I've heard that before.
