Battery and Inverter Coolant Change

I’ve had my Clarity for about eight years now, and it’s approaching 120k miles. Given the age and mileage, I’m starting to think it may be time to have the battery coolant and inverter coolant changed.

Has anyone here had this service done at a Honda dealership? I’d be interested to hear what the experience was like, how much it cost, and whether the dealer recommended doing both services at the same time.

Well, when I bought my used 2018 Clarity, I found that the coolant pump that cools the battery was defective. The car would not charge (thankfully!) if the battery got too hot when the coolant did not flow. Long story short… The dealer replaced the pump, but had a devil of a time “bleeding” the air out of that coolant system. He had to call some central Honda tech-support phone line they use to learn how to do it. Seems it’s done from some access points under the back seat. If you ask them to change the coolant, be prepared to bring the car back if they don’t get that process right. If screwed up the car will abort a change if it senses either no coolant flow when it is called for, or too high a battery temp.
