The is one of the most popular chargers on Amazon. However, I am on my 4rd one as the J1772 charging handle that plugs into the car will eventually malfunction. There is an orangish rubber seal inside the plug that gets displaced and eventually the charger wont fit into the charging port on your car. Its a serious design flaw and save yourself major headache and buy something else. I can not believe this company hasn't been sued yet.

If you only charge while inside, why don't you just remove the rubber seal? I did on my Jekayla L2 40 Amp charger.

I'm not sure if it would really make any significant difference in terms of the ease of insertion or removal. The resistance when you insert the charger is felt almost immediately, well before it hits that ring. Similarly, upon removal, the resistance is felt throughout.

Hmmm....I purchased mine in the summer of 2017. My unit does not have the orange rubber seal. Maybe that was Siemen's solution...remove the part completely?

I got my new charger and it seems like the internal gasket has changed. Hopefully this does the trick.
