This is the 2nd generation of the Formula E chassis, which will be used for the next seasons. It sports a big enough battery to avoid that whole switching cars rigmarole.

Right, and they made relatively small changes to the original design, like adding the upper front wing. The 2018 breaks with most conventions.

I am also interested to see the safety yoke / rollbar over the driver.

The wing across the entire rear is gone now too. The halo (safety yoke/rollbar) is interesting. There's a lot of controversy about implementing this in F1.
 
I love it. Now if I just add a longer nose, some front wheel arches and some flares over my rear wheels mine will look identical........kinda
