Hi,
Our 2021 Kona now has about 47,000 km on it and what I think are the original tyres (or tires, to those who spell them that way...) Michelin Primacy 4 215/55R17 94V. I expect these will need replacing sometime in the next 10,000km.
I've always regarded Michelin as premium tyres for many decades, on both two and four wheeled vehicles, but I was surprised at the amount of tyre/road noise from the rear of the car on coarse bitumen surfaces, despite adding extra sound deadening material to the rear underfloor area.
The Michelin Primacy 5 is now available which, presumably should be superior to the 4, but are there any makes and models of tyre that Kona EV owners recommend, especially if a bit quieter? All advice appreciated, thank you.

I've installed the Primacy 5s. Have a different feel to the 4s on my car. Not as "accute" in the steering. Never the less the grip is superb and much less aquaplaning. The noise level is only moderately reduced. I have not tried any of the "e" tyres. Replaced the 4s at 80,000kms and now at 105,000 Kms. Wear seems to be good.

We have Michelins on our Tesla and they are incredibly loud on most road surfaces. It seems that a lot of manufacturers put them on their cars, and I can't wait to wear them out to get something much quieter with better handling. Softer compounds might wear more quickly, but I am willing to pay the price to have a quiet cabin. Michelins marketing must be the best since everyone "believes" that they are great tires.
