Was quite interesting to watch. The company interviewed claimed that their little test patch being mined can be used to build batteries for 140 million electric cars. The little modules were formed over time from sea water and all hold the same proportion of these metals.

Of course, the opposition to mining the sea floor is just starting to ramp up, and probably won't be long before this gets the same opposition as earth mining and maybe worse.

I saw a similar program and think their 'drag' harvesting device is a mistake. If the nodules contain a sufficient amount of nickel, a very strong magnet should be able to levitate the nodules to a capture mechanism. There would be no need to 'drag' the bottom.

Yeah, I wondered about that, too. But would think they would try that if it worked.
