2d quarter sales figures

Thanks for posting that report Dan. That's very informative. Those numbers on the Clarity are exceptionally bad when compared to the Prius, Bolt or Ioniq.

I just checked cargurus.com, and there are almost 1,500 unsold Clarity models nationally (which is to say mostly in California) and almost a third of that number have been in inventory for over 160 days. And they still have to make room for the 2021s!

Does anyone have any sense if Honda will be offering some deep discounts on the Clarity this fall, similar to or maybe even better than the $6,000 dealer incentive that was available a year ago?
 
Not overly surprising based on low demand pushed by many working from remotely (or out of work) and cheap fossil fuel.
 
Right. But that is true for all new hybrid EV sales. The point of this post is how poorly Honda Clarity is doing relative to the competition (Prius, Bolt, Ioniq). Overall sales fell by a little over 50% in Q2, but Clarity sales went from 3,000 in 2019 to 500 in 2020, an 83% decline.

In Q2 19, Honda was offering $5000-6000 off MSRP. Some dealers were also knocking another grand or two off the price.

So, close dealerships, lay-off millions of workers, don’t advertise and charge full price, and see what happens to sales.
 
There's three 2020 Clarity Touring models at Fowler Honda in Norman, OK. Probably been sitting there over 6 months and they're asking FULL MSRP of $37500. Guess they'd rather take up space on the sales lot.

Meanwhile, GM is putting huge amounts of cash on the hoods of Chevy Bolts (fully loaded Premier models for $30K) and actually selling more units this year than last.
 
I love this car; specifically saved up for it and waited for one to show up in my area. The numbers are atrocious. What gives?
