Hi everyone. New to the site and waiting for my 2023 Mini Cooper SE to arrive in the States. I was just perusing through the Mini USA website and noticed this statement regarding the 2023 hardtop Mini Coopers:

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE

You’ll notice the MINI Hardtop 2 Door distinguishes itself from the rest with its sleek Piano Black Exterior. We went all Piano Black everything, including the door handles, front "wings", fuel filler cap, grille blade, side scuttle, taillight rings, model badge, headlight rings, rear “wings”, and tailpipe finisher.
Any thoughts on whether this will apply to the SE? Will my absolute barebones Mini SE come with Piano Black Exterior? Would be a pleasant surprise if so.

If you read the MINI UK piano black exterior description:

Sporty and enigmatic at the same time, exterior components in Piano Black give your MINI an exceptionally unique appearance. From the grille surround to the headlights and rear light rings, your MINI takes on an exciting new air of mystery. You can now further enhance your MINI’s appearance by adding exterior door handles, the model badge on the boot (One, Cooper, etc.), MINI logos and exhaust end pipes (except MINI Cooper SE) all in Piano Black. Some models can also boast Side Scuttles (Cooper S/SD/SE) and the fuel lid (MINI Cooper S/SD/John Cooper Works) in this exclusive design accent.
That might provide more clarity. You have to buy the waistline finisher separately under #51135A0B944.

Me thinks this description may pertain to the 2022 model.

How disappointing if there are no alternatives, some of us much prefer chrome over blackout. I guess moving away from chrome is good from a materials standpoint. I'd certainly go with the bronze accents of the Resolute Edition if I was buying today.

Interesting. I'm a self-proclaimed chromophobe, and my previous DD was Estoril Blue with EVERYTHING else black, which I loved. With my current MINI, I didn't have the option for blue, so went with Moonwalk gray, but with the piano black option. I actually chose the roulette wheels because of the subtle chrome remnants that couldn't be changed, namely the outlines of the SE logos, the lights, and the belt line. I'm EXTREMELY happy with the outcome, they aren't garish, and they definitely tie everything together. Honestly wouldn't change anything on this little beast now that I have it. Well, except for some tinting to be done before solar-level weather hits this summer.

Anything like my previous DD, @drdunkyn?

I love the chrome on my MINI — it’s one of the reasons I changed my order from an Iconic to a Signature+ — but I did find the blackout trim around the windows on my 4 Series really sharp…although I still got my favored brightwork in the silver alloys and chrome on the grille and exhaust finishers. ;)

Nice, Wessy! But for some reason I obsessed about ridding my ride of all chrome with Estoril. With my new SE I'm much more accepting of a few highlights!

I once had an Estoril Blue II 435i MPPK rwd daily driver. Worked just fine and I drove it in -35F winters with no issues.
