No issues if it's a bit better than the vinyl or cloth they offer now. The cloth in particular felt itchy to me. The vinyl is just kinda squeaky lol

It did take a few years and fall-spring I am in exclusively dk wash (think blue black even) denim. The leather cleaners I had towards the end (maybe 5 or 6 years in) just couldn't do it anymore. Maybe it should've been treated every few years. Who knows.
 
MINI's leatherette is really nice, it's not like naugahyde. I actually didn't want leather, but for the Iconic trim I had no choice. And it turns out it's really, really nice. I do think MINI's leatherette feels like the real thing. I would not be happy with cloth, though.

It's better than VWs but IMO it does not feel like the real thing. It's still nice but a bit squeaky at times. The cloth to me was a major step down from the leatherette and why I went up to the cross punch in the Sig+
 
I mentioned it in the Trim Options thread, but, just in case you didn’t see it - I wanted to mention that my salesmen put in my order for a 2022 SE today with the following:
  • Iconic trim BRG with 18” Pulse Spoke Two-Tone wheels (no extra charge)
  • Piano Black Exterior package (no extra charge)
I await a production number to verify all is accepted.

This article (in a different publication) has the same headline about leather, but goes into a bit more detail on other potential changes in "future" MINI's -- such as whether or not they will get rid of toggle switches in favor of tapping a touch-screen, etc. (IMHO, if BMW chooses to do things like that, the MINI's uniqueness and flair will be lost -- and they might was well sell MINI to Tesla or Ford.)

I agree with you - I think they can take it too far in "modernizing" it. The classic fog light look is already gone.

Call me nuts but even ditching the headlights does that for me. Yes yes, technology exists blah blah blah. It's about a look and feel as you said. If Mini cannot be bothered to do Android Auto and yet jumps into tech tech tech, then the soul will be lost. There are reasons why I was glad not to get the 2022 and It's al about a feel. I'm a Mini lover though and not just a technophile - which I actually am. You can have flair of old uniqueness without just being all about new and shiny. Character matters too. That's in part why I dislike Tesla. It tires so hard to be tech, it's just sterile to me.
 
If the center console controls on the 2022 are any indicator, we are in trouble. Buttons be gone (I assume these are touch sensitive 'buttons'). Honda did the same thing years ago. We have a CR-V, and the lack of physical buttons is a bit of a pain.

We have that in the Civic. Not a fan. Heated steering wheel or not, I wear gloves and mittens. Those buttons really are much harder to use in the winter. They look like finger print magnets too. Much like they are in the civic. I do use the buttons but wouldn't need. I do not use the touchscreen at all. The iDrive wheel is so much faster and less distracting to me. Or voice command. While I am a geek with technology but sometimes these are less usable in reality.

waitasecond.... your dealer has the information necessary so you can actually place an order? I know I keep feeling like I know things from this forum before my dealer does, but I have the distinct impression from my dealer that one cannot place an order for a 2022 yet. My experience earlier this week was that MINI is still entering 2021s into production.) Like, my post from two days ago when I saw in mygarage.miniusa.com that my 2021 (that I cancelled) was pulled for production that day.)

I can only go on what my salesman is telling me via email exchange - but he confidently answered my questions about whether there was a charge on certain items such as the Piano Black trim and being able to order the 18" wheels. I'll believe it when I see a production number. And he has not said when the order might get accepted. I am still skeptical about it.
 
I'm curious to find if piano black is no charge or not. Because in the past it has been. Which is why I opted to do on my own when I decide what all gets blacked out. I am considering not just piano black on the grille but not sure..

Ask your salesperson for a Vehicle Inquiry Report. It will itemize all the standard & optional features for your build and the MSRP cost for each.

I don't know if the order must be accepted before they can provide a Vehicle Inquiry Report, but you can definitely get one before the Production Number has been assigned.
 
I hit him up pretty hard with questions the past 24 hours - I'm going to give it a couple days before I bug him again. But he has said all along that he cannot send me a list of my selected options until it is accepted on the other side.

I had mine before the production number was given. The production number came a few weeks later, but no switch over or shut down was taking place

I will say bonnet stripes were not an option at all on mine which shows they don't always have everything on it.

Likewise, the sales manager printed mine out the day I placed my order, before I left--also at a time when production was ongoing instead of during a change-over.

Ah, yes, I should clarify that it will only list factory-installed options that your dealership can order. Additional accessories won't be listed on that report.
