2017-2019 Chevy Bolt EV recall - Update* GM has a fix.

August 2022 now we are on the recall for the recall for the recall.
Seems gm will for the most part will remove, disassemble, insert new pouches, in in a feat of super human skill, reassemble it all into a functional car. Big city folk no problem, but here in the swamp, heaven help us.
 
I just hope our 2019 Bolt doesn’t catch fire until our lease is up in December, and we will never drive an EV from GM ever again.

The sales rep already called me 3 times offering a “great unbeatable” deal on a brand new Bolt EV or EUV and I told him “not a chance in hell buddy! please add my number to your do-not-call list”.

Or that we are told. The heavy hand of gm could have helped based on reactions across the net

Yes, I found the thread in the Bolt EV sub-reddit which confirms the owner took it down because of personally identifying info. Not that they wouldn't in some instances, but I don't think GM was involved in it coming down.

My lease is up in Dec also. Shouldn’t we be able to terminate early without penalty, given the battery defect?

Hey Domenick, do you think it's time to change the title of this thread so it no longer says GM has a fix?
 
This whole Bolt-catching-fire fiasco made me return our 2019 Bolt lease earlier than December 2021, i.e. we will return the car tomorrow, 9/20 and drive off a good ‘old gasoline car … a gas guzzler SUV no less! that’s right … from a Toyota Prius, to a Chevy Volt and ultimately a Chevy Bolt; we may try EV’s again later down the road …. maybe.

"October" only for the highest risk group, probably 2019's. I could be waiting a year for my new pack. That's four winter months of a total of 70 miles of range. Can't park in the garage and I also can't keep it plugged in below freezing which the manual says I should but now GM says I can't. It isn't a panic if the car I bought no longer is. I don't spend a ton of money on a car to not drive it! On top of that, I'm supposed to believe, with no information, that they really found the cause of the defects and have it fixed. And that their new v2.0 of the monitoring software is supposed to work any better. I'd still be on the edge of my seat another four years waiting for the fires to begin again. Now more choices are coming available so much easier to see if I get a good buyback offer and never look back at GM again.
