Hi all, I have a 2023 Kona EV SEL, 100,200 miles. Dealers performed the 9C5 recall update for me last week and it shows the “ check electric vehicle system” warning light is on. I called the dealer and they say I can tow the car to the dealer at my own cost and they will performed an inspection with $300 fee. If it is related to the recall, they won’t charge the inspection fee then. Have you seen the similar warning before after the update, any suggestions for the next step? Really appreciate it!

If the car drives there's no reason to have it towed. I'd email them a photo of the warning light and ask if it's "safe to drive". If it's not drivable call Hyundai Assistance or whatever it's called wherever you live and have them deal with it.
The update you have is likely been around the RoW since Jan 2026 (as it has a very similar description) and a few recipients have had this happen. Generally the fix is a new traction battery.

Thanks for your reply!! It is still drivable and the dealer who performed the recall update is 30-min away while I have another dealer is nearby about 5-min. Should I go to the one who performed the recall update.
One thing I’m concerned is that my car just passed 100k mile, which means it is out of warranty. Not sure if I need to pay everything out-of-pocket or it is related to the recall issued so Hyundai will cover it.
I am also interested that should I do something g simple to check by myself first. Like 12-v battery issue? Or something else. I bought this as used car about 6 months ago before and first time to see this warning light on. Appreciate it!
