Hello, I'm considering ordering a MY Performance over a Long Range mainly because of the much shorter delivery time for the Performance. Need to coordinate the new car with the end of a leased one. However, I live in Colorado Springs and like to switch my vehicles to winter tires both for being at home , as well as traveling to the mountains during wintertime. I'm wondering what people are doing for winter tires on the Performance. It seems to be difficult and expensive to get 21 inch snow tires for the Performance. Thanks
I don't have any thoughts beyond asking your question at: https://www.teslaownersonline.com/ They have some pretty strong backgrounds in Tesla tires. In fact, someone asked a similar question: https://www.teslaownersonline.com/threads/best-all-season-tires-for-y.24568/ GOOD LUCK! Bob Wilson
Which 21" tire your MY came with? P zero or Michelin AS4? P zero are terrible in snow but if yours came with Michelin AS4 you are in good hands. Those tires are great in winter/snow. If that can't handles it. Go get yourself a either cheaper smaller wheels and a winter tires or something like Michelin crossclimate 2. Or more extreme tires like Nokian R3. This is my set up. I'm using my Model 3's 20" uberturine wheels with Michelin crossclimate 2 on the MY. Also have Nokian R3 just in case.
I'm a fan of Nokian and it published a list of their tires for the Tesla Model Y on its site, which I'll share below: Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta 10 EV 255/45 R 19 255/40 R 20 255/35 R 21 Front 275/35 R 21 Rear Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta 10 SUV 255/35 R 21 Front 275/35 R 21 Rear Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta R5 EV 255/45 R 19 255/40 R 20 255/35 R 21 Front 275/35 R 21 Rear Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta R5 255/45 R 19
