11 Pro. Used across multiple vehicles, wired, wireless. Alpine, Pioneer, Subaru, Chevy, MINI. Only MINI has consistent issues.

Lol and my (now DW’s) XS Max and my 12 Pro Max both consistently have issues with wired CarPlay on the 2018 Crosstrek through multiple head unit updates, but so far I’ve only needed to start “finding” my iPhone from scratch in the SE just once, and that was after taking an iOS 16 beta update.

  4. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, I reckon the issue is with the Bluetooth connection, there is a bit of a lag when the iPhone tries to reconnect to the SE and also when stopping the connection. I noticed this after powering on the car and sometimes Spotify does not play immediately and then after powering off the SE, I cannot connect to the ACE dashcam WiFi because the Bluetooth connection is still live.

I have a 2022 Signature and I do have the parking lines. But, I had to turn them on in the settings.

Honestly the lines bemuse me. What are they trying to say? I’m surely overthinking it. I know what they represent, but they’re more confusing than necessary; in the Crosstrek I just point the lines to where I want the back end to go. The MINI wants me to make the path lines cover the turning circle lines?

Red is the max turning radius in either direction, actively moving lines is your trajectory. The notches usually have measurements tied to them (for example 2ft, 5ft and 10ft) but I never measured them on MINIs.

  9. Up until about 3 weeks ago, I was using an iPhone 6s and CarPlay worked very well but there was 2 occasions when I had to re-pair the phone between Nov and July. Both times it was after applying an iOS update so no really big inconvenience.
I am now using an new iPhone SE. So far, I have to say I am thrilled with the performance of CarPlay. Looking forward to iOS 16 next week.

Works fine with my wife’s iPhone X and my 12 Pro Max.

Yeah, as I said, I know what they represent, they’re just more info than I want or need. Just tell me where my butt ends up with the steering wheel where I have it. No need for me to “1. Position the vehicle so that the turning circle lines lead to within the limits of the parking space.
    2. Turn the steering wheel to the point where the pathway line covers the cor- responding turning circle line.” The red lines just lower the signal-to-noise ratio unnecessarily in most circumstances. They certainly don’t help me back my 6’5” wide MINI through my 7’10” wide garage door (that I can do quite easily with the 7’ wide Subaru and its simpler lines). Anyway, whatever.

I have never ordered an iPhone on day 1 before, but this morning I ordered an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Delivery Sept 16th. I'll report back if I have any CarPlay issues with it.

You shouldn’t. I’ve had 16 (beta) on the 12 Pro Max since before I took delivery of the car and it works a treat. I’ll have to play with a 14 Pro Max before deciding — my upgrade date is in March.
