I'm considering multiple tire configurations on wheel-size.com, and one of them flags the scrub radius. The calculator assumes the scrub radius of the OEM Nexen tires is 0 mm. Does anyone know if this is true?
I don’t see how that’s related to the tires but more so the wheel offset (50 mm) combined with the hub positioning within the suspension geometry. I doubt anyone knows the factory value but I have noticed while manoeuvring around my parking spot that there is no noticeable sideways shift when spinning the steering lock to lock while not moving, so perhaps it is very close or equal to zero. I’m not sure why they would do this as I have always assumed a small amount of scrub radius improves straight ahead steering sensitivity on the road. In any case if you keep the wheel offset the same, at least at the front, you’ll have nothing to worry about.
Scrub radius is an element of steering geometry, not tire brand related. This might be useful reading... https://www.moderntiredealer.com/10116/helping-your-customer-understand-why-wheel-offset-matters
