    Yesterday actually.
I had a good opportunity to test regenerative braking efficiency. Pilot mountain.
Driving to the foot of the mountain, I managed 3.8 mi/kWh. Just before it gets steep, I reset the trip meter. The next 2 miles were pretty bad, 1.2mi/kWh!
Speed was 20-25. I didn't touch the stop pedal.
Back at the bottom, a pic of the trip meter, average is a lot better, but not as good as if I'd driven 20-25 on a flat road. I never drive that slowly normally, but maybe it would have been around 6mi/kWh? I calculate I regenerated 0.75kWh into the battery. At 6kWh on a flat road, I'd have used about 0.25kWh less for those 4 miles. So regen efficiency of 75%. Not too bad.
Last tripmeter pic at the supermarket near where I live. My phone died before I got home, but the average had not changed.
Temps were in the 50s. Brakes not used. Driving up was 27 miles. I used 39% of my battery for the ~56mile drive. Not bad for a cool day on all weather tyres.

I calculate that at an efficiency of 90%, 20,000' climb is 100% battery usage. That is on top of normal driving usage. So if your route is 70miles and 5,000 climb. You'll use about 50% of the battery for 70 flat miles, and 25% for the climb.

Do you have an alarm? If not, how did you manage to get the sound?

Get a piezo buzzer and wire it in instead of the siren. It’s what I’ve been doing on BMWs for almost 20 years.

I've been meaning to back in to change from Sport on start to Green. I find myself switching to Green before setting off every drive, then toggling Sport for more response to deal with zombies on the highway.

I added rim protection and to give the wheels some more color. The yellow matched up with the center better than I expected. 20230104_210100_resized.jpg

Did you use AlloyGator or a different brand?

Brand is called rimprotec. I didnt want to jack up the car and deflate the tire for the alloygator and wanted something easier. I actually bought it from their Etsy store as it was cheaper than their normal website. Only bad thing is it ships from UK and took 2 weeks to get to US west coast.

I only see one “yellow” as a choice in the drop-down, though there are a couple in the representative pics. Did you just order “yellow”?

ETA: Never mind. I just realized the three yellows are just (the only) yellow over each of the three “primary” colors (the bases).

Yea I just got the regular yellow. I picked up a black replacement bead too in case I didn't like the yellow but it looks good to me.

    Thanks for the info!

As detailed elsewhere (likely on page 3 now), I cleaned up a set of used 16” Victory Spoke rims for winter use, and ended up striping them with yellow vinyl after shopping for edge protectors. Today I was driving my Toyota and I lightly curbed a steelie on a supermarket parking lot block hidden under slush. Ok, maybe I’m a little less careful in the Crapolla, but it was an eye-opener.

If you bung one of them up do you have to buy another set of four or do they sell singles?
