VW has 17% of its voting shares are owned by the petrol state that helped start off the Iraq 1 war. If there ever was petrol bailout it was that first gulf war. There is tripe that says the state is only interested in investing for its post oil future. But that is nonsense- supply is not the issue with petrol its ultra low economic efficiency and climate instability etc., plus a horrid enslaving property model. There is a sense with petrol in which you are pushing your own cars around with human power all thing considered- very real part of the hollowing out effect. No the reason they own that is to prevent going to more logical forms of transport i.e., BEV. So just another indicator that VW is not serious.
