Planning to install level2 charger at home. May buy a Tesla in the future. Wanted to be more future proof and thought... Instead of buying a SIemens or GE or Chargepoint system, why not buy a Tesla wall charger instead, as it costs just about the same. I imagine tesla doesn't provide an adapter for their cords to a J1772 charger?
Level 2 would be fine for a tesla and they come with the adaptor already . Most versatile is a level 2 charger. You won't need more than 32 amps for a Tesla, it should be fine for overnight charging
I believe this is the source of the Tesla Tap: http://www.umc-j1772.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=50 Nissan LEAF owner Kenneth Bokor has a Tesla charger that he uses this with. He has posts in the LEAF subsection of the Forum if you want to ask him about his experience with it.
After reviewing the economics, I think I will just live with the tesla mobile charger if and when I get a tesla. Thanks for the replies guys!
