From the OP, the while low wind is an issue, reliance on Russian gas is the real issue.
When was the last time a windmill fell over and created a 10 mile no-go zone?

Yes a diversified grid is a good thing. Nuclear without a permanent logical and secure storage solution for waste is a non starter

Cool. What does this have to do with mainstream environmentalists trying (and having some success) in banning the us of any form of nuclear energy in the US? You would be utterly outraged if republicans attempted the same with wind and solar. why isn't this something to be concerned about too?

There's no reason why anyone can't live in Fukushima or Pripyat. Most of the health impacts of low level radiation exposure are exaggerated.

Like Yucca Mountain? Oh wait, mainstream environmentalists manipulated Obama to abandon that plan. Just like they manipulated Jimmy Carter to not allow fuel rods to be recycled. The waste "problem" was used as leverage to ban the construction of new nuclear in several states. Go figure.

I've been impressed by the molten salt reactors designs. They remove fission products and concentrate them in small volumes for storage on site. After several years, they become low-level, nuclear waste. Solid fuel rods and light water reactors are nuts.

  6. Even the pro-renewables Washington Post is sounding the alarm.

And the world energy crisis is also affecting the US thanks to the Biden policy of killing local pipelines and fracking. He is now begging Russia and mid-east producers to pump and sell more oil to the US. And with ESG, all fossil fuel related investments have come to a halt. Hard to believe this has happened so quickly given the US was a net exporter of energy just 2 years ago.

One famous group of 'environmentalists' are the Native Americans:
    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/oct/12/first-thing-indigenous-protesters-rally-against-fossil-fuels

Hundreds of protesters led by Indigenous activists from across the country demonstrated in front of the White House on Monday to demand that Joe Biden stop approving fossil fuel projects and declare the climate crisis a national emergency.

The rally marks the start of five days of demonstrations calling for greater attention to climate injustices as Native American leaders and tribal members head to the capital to publicize their demands.

The demonstrations are part of People v Fossil Fuels protests, organized by a coalition of groups known as Build Back Fossil Free, who are urging the Biden administration take further action to reduce carbon-producing fossil fuel projects.
    . . .

President Biden does not act alone but in response to his supporters. In contrast, the Republicans appear to ignore them.

  9. Well, Biden's supporters are getting less and less, down to 38% now, lower than Trump ever was except after the Jan Capitol riots and his impeachment. Mostly just the extreme radical left supporting him now, and they will hang on, similar to yourself, Bob.

Biden supporters were 51.3% popular vote when it counted and 57% on January 6th. Anything since then is gossip. Here we use ballots.

  11. That is, if you ignore polls. I understand, though, the Dems are not, and getting quite concerned about 2022. They better reign in their far left radicals pretty soon, before it is too late.

Somehow I doubt it would change anything but fracture my Democratic Party. Sounds more like advice from an opponent of my Democratic Party … a poison pill.

  15. Well, I think they are being reigned in right now by the two most powerful Dem politicians in Washington, namely Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema.

Most of this stuff is just astroturfed. It's all staged. It doesn't have any forbearance on what the locals actually think. Not that it matters anyways because renewables are cheaper than fossil fuels anyways.

This is true for most of the Republican party because they are just controlled opposition. Many of them are basically democrats with Rs by their name.

Never punch left. One of Alinsky's rules for radicals. lol. Color me surprised. No wonder you can't criticize the environmentalists who are killing nuclear.
