Hello everyone. We are looking into shipping our 2017 Chevy Bolt EV to Costa Rica and it seems like every shipper has a different story. Some say that there needs to be a special declaration that the car is all electric and needs to be placed in a special container, or at least one that is clearly labeled that it contains an EV. Others say no, that it can go just the same as gasmobiles. Then there is the whole question of whether EVs are exempt from Costa Rican import duty, or only have to pay a fraction of the duty of other imported cars or that they're subject to the same duty. I won't even get into that as I don't expect anyone here to necessarily have an answer, but if you do . . . . And by the way, come on down to Costa Rica! DCFC is on the house . . . . . no really. ICE, the electric utility here, is installing fast chargers throughout the country, all powered by 98.5% renewable energy, and charging is free to the public, Shhhh!
