Question for the Toyota Prius owners, are the catalytic converters on these vehicles different / more expensive to any other brand of cars catalytic converter? Reason being, thieves are targeting Prius cars in my neck o the woods in the UK just to steal the Cat!!! No other model of cars are being targeted.
Not that I know. In the USA, they go after the pickup truck and high-riding cars. It is easier to grab one. Bob Wilson
Yeah that's what I would have thought too, there's been multiple reports of just prius cars getting their catalytic converters stolen.
I Googled it and found there have been local cases. One suggestion is to have a vehicle identifier put on the converter. This means the criminal junk yard will refuse to buy what can be identified as stolen property. Bob Wilson
