The Polestar 2 was revealed this morning, video below. First, the numbers: EPA-range should be 275 miles from its 78 kWh battery. Dual motor all-wheel-drive with 300 kW (408 horsepower) and 660 Nm (487 lb-ft of torque) allowing for a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time under 5 seconds. (They are targeting 4.7 seconds)
A few highlights of features. Over-the-air (OTA) updates. Headlights always on highbeam. Lights sense oncoming traffic and tailors light to not blind them. Pilot assist system. Radar and cameras monitor the environment around you. Safety system includes driver alert, collision avoidance using both braking and steering, run-off mitigation, and evasive manoeuver assist. Also has cross-traffic alert, rear collision warning/mitigation. Your phone opens the car. Sitting down turns it on. 11-inch center touch screen display. Embedded Android OS, allowing for Google maps, assistant, etc. Find charging stations, Spotify, etc, with voice command. Download whatever apps from the Play Store. (recognizes iOS devices as well) Remote auto parking! Leather-free (vegan) interior, featuring black ash wood accents as standard. It has optional Napa leather ventilated seats with lighter wood trim. Six colors: Midnight, magnesium, snow, thunder, moon, and void. (Those names ) If there is a front trunk (frunk), it appears it will be small. Since they didn't open the hood, I suspect there isn't one.
Seems like the lower trims will be available at launch, starting at 30,900 euros. High-spec trim is 59,900 euros with Pano roof, pixel LED headlights, vegan seats, Harmon/Kardon stereo Will be available in China, Canada, California, Sweden, Norway, UK, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium to start. Production starts in February 2020. Config is open now. Reservations open now, $1,000. First U.S. deliveries slated for July 2020.
Not aimed at you Domenick, aimed directly at Polestar. The lower trim, sub 31000 euro model, still has to be offered and we are now in March 2020. Why over a year ago announce the manufacture of a specific vehicle, then simply not make it?
