Just picked up the new Clarity Plug-in. Wife will be primary driver, using it for her 20 mile round trip commute and in-town errands. So far we love the car, it's only a moonroof, heated steering wheel, and newer "tablet" display (from the 2018 Accord?) away from being perfect. Many pan the look of this car but we love it! I have long been a fan of the aesthetic of Citroens of yore and feel this is the closest thing one can find to that look in a new car. We plan to go solar at our home soon and looking forward to using the sun to fill our battery. Hope to learn more about the car here, and how to maximize it's utility and efficiency! Welcome. Newbie here yet to take delivery, hopefully early next week. When a salesman bragged that the shape of the Clarity was based on the aerodynamics of airflow over a wing, I just had to dig out a photo of a Citroen DS19: A favorite of mine!
Congratulations on the Clarity. I hope your wife enjoys it as much as I enjoy mine. While many web reviews have cast negative light on the styling, I have received many compliments on it. "Futuristic" is an often used adjective. Enjoy your Clarity!
The CItroen SM. Motor Trend car of the year 1972. A dean at my college had one of these back in the 70's. One big difference - reliability. This thing lived in the shop, and not for something trivial like a software update. The 4 door was rare. Very advanced technically including a couple of features we don't have like rain sensing wipers and self leveling headlights.
Automobile Magazine has picked up on the Clarity's Citroen vibe, too. Although they don't think the Clarity's looks are equal to the old 1955-1975 Citroen DS, they do say nice things about our favorite car: "It has been little remarked upon; indeed, its arrival went almost completely unnoticed, but in fact it not only looks quite unusual (if not up there with the DS), but also and more important it stands as an incredibly fine automobile whose technological specifications point squarely at a future that has already arrived, with an extreme facility for saving gas, at an almost impossibly reasonable price."
DS19 was a beauty and still is. And you have to remember, this was the 50's. Nothing compared. The technology was stunning, not necessarily robust, but it was out there. 2,700 lb car driven by a 75 hp 4 cylinder sounds kind of familiar.....
I owned a DS21 for15 years that I sold in 2015.Very interesting and beautiful and comfortable, but it was just not a lot of fun to drive. The GSA is a lot more fun, and its rear wheel openings look much more like the Clarity than those on the DS.
Are you going to pull off all the Honda/Clarity/PHEV badges too? I took off the side PHEV badges and it looks much better. I might follow you and put a Citroen badge on the rear.
I thought I was the only one!!! I hated how the Volt looked but wanted the range and saw the the Clarity and thought this thing looks like a Citreon!! It’s amazing. I was surprised at all the complaints online on how it looked, I love this thing! My mom had a Citreon when I was a kid, a 72.
Sure, why not. Already removed the 3 PHEV badges, might not add these but thought I would at least order.
It's great to see so many fellow Citroen fans with Claritys here! I love the badge idea, the Chevrons would look much better on the charging door than the OEM badging.
We decided to go ahead and trade in our Clarity for the newly imported Citroën Modèle H: Admittedly largely similar to the Clarity, but with that certain French flair!
