Rumors has it that BMW decided to keep the new iX1 CUV for Europe, UK, and Asia; a real disappointment because this AWD EV has a market here. Local dealer wasn’t aware of the car’s existence! Anyone can add to this rumor?
Foreign made EVs face US tariffs & duties with exception to Tesla and South Korean auto manufacturers. This is the primary reason why the iX3 (2021+) was not brought to the US from BMW Brilliance (China) aside from the RWD only configuration. The iX1 is made in Plant Regensburg (Germany) and not in the Plant Spartanburg (Greer, SC) for X3 to X7.
