My brother just picked up his Model Y last month and this afternoon, while making a legal left turn at a light, was T-boned by a minivan blowing through a red light going about 55 mph. He was able to climb out of the car on his own. He has a few broken bones and other non-life threatening injuries but the Model Y definitely upheld its reputation for protecting its occupants. He was cocooned by all of the air bags that rose to the occasion to protect him. He'll be sore for a while and take a bit to recover but will be ok. Tesla called his wife to check on them right after he had called her. The minivan driver was badly injured and cited for the violation. We, of course hope she recovers ok as well. Too bad she wasn't driving a Tesla too - it would probably have detected the red-light and and his car and started braking, significantly reducing both of their injuries.
