This is Tesla spanking Porsche- Teslarati covers it. The Model 3 which costs 1/3 as much just beat the top Taycan in a long distance endurance race. Inside EVs just did a comparison of the Tesla Roadster and the Taycan apparently just so they could down grade the Telsa stats to make the Taycan seem somehow more competitive. In particular they said the Roadster could do 0-60 in 1.9 seconds with the rocket package. This is wrong estimate are 1 second 0-60 with the rocket pack. But you see the base Roadster and Taycan cost about the same. The base Roadster will do it in 1.9 but what Inside EVs did seems to be an attempt to mislead people into thinking the performance of the base Roadster and Taycan are comparable. They are not! Even the base is greater than a half second 0-60 faster with close to 100mph higher top end, massively better 0-100 and triple the range and much faster charging (miles per minute,) and can go all day with non degrading launches with a couple people in the car as was demonstrated in 2017. Apparently the Model 3 could have beat the Taycan by even a larger margin if it had access to a faster charger. VW apparently reduced Herb Diess's responsibility. Reminds me of Porsche its basically an obsolete ICE firm trying to learn new tricks. Its a has been, not even in the same league as Tesla. By first principles if a firm can't compete thermodynamically across its logistical stack it can't compete economically and that is VW and Porsche. Apparently this downgrading of Diess came after a raucous board meeting where Diess accused some directors (or department heads) of criminally leaking meeting info on software supplier issues. Not sure but there couldn't be anything more stupid than trying to down shift on EVs right now. If you listen to the garbage from people like Bara its the same delay, delay delay and down play down play. Now she is saying transition to EV's won't even happen by 2040- who feeds this nonsense to these people? They live in a dream land. People don't want obsolete ICE garbage anymore. Driving a BMW makes you look stupid- any ICE car or ICE committed brand doesn't just make you look un-hip it makes you look stupid and negligent and clueless. Looking dumb is not what image conscious people who buy 'premium' brands want. When demand is gone and its gone in an instant you can't push a string. Porsche, BMW... they are going to get hit harder than Blackberry and they deserve it, its already happening- BMW just had a board reshuffle (but don't know what happened there.) But their workers don't deserve this!. There are dynasties with huge shares in these firms messing up the German automakers because they apparently have massive sunk costs in stranded asset fossil fuels that they can't get free of without massive losses so the firms and their workers are put at risk. I wonder what Diess' immediate future is. Supposedly he says stuff he has to take back and apologize for. So far BMW wasn't really hit in Dieselgate but he left BMW to head VW and then was named in dieselgate in late 2019- is that part of the issue- the change is atonement? What will he do next? Tesla EU? German politics to help override resistance to Green?
