I'm all for positive thinking, but c'mon, dude! You don't order a pair of pants and when they come in without pockets say "Yeah, I miss the storage but pockets are so bulky!" I would be righteously PI$$ED if my car didn't come as ordered. The HK audio is MUCH better than stock, but hopefully you were given a deduction for the lack of it. I agree with the idea that if they can't make them properly, they shouldn't make them until they're properly supplied.

We're not talking about obscene things like this:

    Much less this:

I didn't order the vehicle as another customer backed out of it. Rather than risk up to $10,000 of soon to be expiring rebates and incentives, I took it.

Fair enough, good call. But hopefully ANY SE purchased in 2022 (when the rebates are still active) should be able to qualify. SHOULD being the qualifying term.

Just don't justify the lack of the better stereo/speakers because there isn't a bulge in the headline! As long as you didn't have to pay for it!

I pretty much drive in silence as my one way commute is generally 7-10 minutes. For those 30+ minute trips I'll listen to a concerto.

Has there been any recent confirmation that production will really resume on Monday Feb 28th? Our SE has been stuck in the Paint Booth for a week now.

Sounded good until i gave it some thought. Because the car is missing some speakers, they shut down the assembly line, or dont make those cars. Assume they just dont make those cars. In the meantime with a just in time supply chain they have 99.44% of a significant number of cars. They then tell the boat that is supposed to have those cars to keep sailing at say 75% capacity. Oh, and we will pay you later.

Then when the cars are finally done, and the ship is on the other side of the planet they have to find another ship. Well that one can only handle half the cars and cost twice as much.

Should i go on? Because they didnt want the parts sitting around they used the parts for your car to build someone elses car that didnt have the radio. Now they have the chip for the radio, but not for the left front TPMS. Back to the drawing board, because they are making cars for third wild countries that dont need TPMS, but need the better radio.

Dont be upset at the delay your salesman says. Remember you told the factory not to build them until they are properly supplied.

Good copy on all, Tommm. Guess I'm just thinking of this from a consumer's perspective. But you're right in regards to the manufacturer. They will sell EVERYTHING they make so it makes sense to just push through. And some concerto-listening sucker will buy it immediately! JK, teslarati97 ;)

Of course drdunkyn! At least I have island blue in Level 3 Trim. Waiting for summer to come back so I can swap my rims and tires.

The main thing is you are one of the few who get to drive a MINI Cooper SE. Driving is the main reason this car exists.

How about GM removing heated seats because of chip shortages. That would be a bitter pill to have to swallow for me. It's clearly not a MINI-only problem.

How about manual seats instead of 10-way power front and passenger ones for your BMW?

Must be an insult to BMW owners, but I think heated seats are a must-have (because I live near the arctic :D:D), whereas heated steering wheel, power seats, or speakers are luxury items. Well, maybe not the speakers...

Speaking of power seats, the ICE Clubman S loaner I was in recently had power seats. I wonder why MINI doesn't offer them as an option for the SE? Are they not available for any hardtop?

They debuted in the Clubman when MINI was pitching it as the luxury MINI, but I think you can get power seats in the Countryman now too. Unless you get a JCW, then the seats are still manual.

Personally I don't ever adjust the seat, so it's not something I've ever missed. Thankfully my wife and I can drive at the same settings.

They were also taking away touch screen for iDrive. I'd hate to spend $70,000+ to find out your power seats are now manual "chip shortage" seats. I'll get around to putting in bavsound speakers one day...

We all have our priorities, which is why it's great to personalize our cars. I couldn't care less about the electric seat adjustments, but I won't tolerate crappy sound. I actually don't need a touch screen, use iDrive control for everything. But it gets pretty annoying when the car you ordered arrives with something else. My foray into BMW was only at the lowest level (coming from a new 2001 Jetta), and I really loved getting to choose the features I wanted. Most of the things in my Iconic SE I didn't really need, but am so happy it has them all. Would be disappointed to order something and not get what I was paying for.

Having just finished a hot-winter-for-northerners-but-actually-cold-winter for South Carolina, I am very grateful for the heated steering wheel and heated seats in my SE! I would not want to go without.

Please also let Toyota and Lexus know that customers would gladly pay extra for a full heated steering wheel and not a half-heated wheel at the 9 and 3 positions.

Rub it in that the chip in the MiniUSA mainframe necessary for my dealer to order my island blue must be part of the shortage.
