Got my plugs put in and as goodwill for the many troubles with the PDI they installed these two items at no cost . I like the fact that the footwell light brightens getting in and out of the car and then dims to a soft glow while driving. It's not very bright but does what it's meant to do. I really like the flashy door sills, nice to see when opening and closing the door. They are overpriced due to install costs but just gimmicks in the end. I'm a sucker for gimmicks though. Got to figure out my other lighting now as you can see the samples of blue or pink using the 12v.
Ever since we got our Clarity in December, I've enjoyed the overpriced, gimmicky, but still classy, light-up door sills!
How wonderful how difficult it would be to DIY this install? Anyone have the part numbers for the above?
I believe it is this https://www.collegehillshonda.com/product/08E12-TRT-100.html There is a 19 page installation instructions as well in that website
I ordered it without looking at the installation instructions, thinking it's similar to the one in Prius which wasn't bad at all. Nope. I was wrong. I returned it.
Wow! Nearly 100 steps to install those door sills! It doesn't appear anyone told the designers of the Clarity that lighted door sills were going to be an option. I'll now appreciate them even more whenever I open my door (which, unfortunately, is usually the front passenger door because the Clarity is my wife's car).
thanks for sharing pictures of the lights installed! Do you know if the lights are standard on the touring model? There's some illumination in ours but I like the look of yours. Totally agree with everyone about 100 steps for lighted sills. that's ridiculous.
Not our car, but an advertisement picture on Amazon. I added these. Easy, inexpensive. Not planning on disassembling my car for lighted ones. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MK1VCLS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
@Tek_Freek , thank you. For $18 and free shipping, that’s a steal. Just ordered them. And they will cover a scratch I made because hadn’t got around to putting on a piece of 3 M clear stick on I had laying around. Laziness will bite you in the butt every time! And I’m used to stuff taking forever to get here from China or Taiwan, but with free shipping and no tax, my cheap*ss side doesn’t mind.
Don't be in a hurry to get them. They ship from China (iirc) by way of a dingy rowed by a 103 year old. Easy to apply and stops the scuffing.
I opted for the lighted door sill option. The 100-step installation process makes it easier to justify the expense. However, I'm afraid of scuffing the aluminum and I end up kicking the door panel when getting out as I carefully avoid stepping on the sill. Those black door-sill protectors will be great if they resist scuffing successfully.
If you mean the ones I bought, then yes. They do help with scuffing. I also have a tendency to kick the doors on the way out. Big feet problem. Not sure if there is a solution for that.
In the comments under the video (YouTube) he states that they have to be connected to existing wiring.
Couldn't one just run a wire from the overhead dome light near the rear view mirror and power up the lighted door sill?
