If you've seen Tony Seba's videos you'll know that legacy makers face from self-driving a reduction in unit volume and corresponding revenue anywhere from 5x - 18x by 2030. Yet, self-driving because of the revolution it brings in vehicle usage models while saving the consumer the greatest chunk of disposable income in history (which is a huge economic stimulus) and being the greatest safety advance is literally irresistible. You know Tony likes to think in terms of 10x-ers and this is definitely a 10x reduction in their unit volume. But as you may know GM is down more than 50% on even recent decade's historical unit sales volumes and prices only increased at about inflation so how will GM survive even the low end the 5x reduction in unit volumes over the next 9 years? How many companies have ever survived even the low end of such a reduction? You know that isn't the case for Tesla its preparing to capture more percentage share than GM ever had globally. GM is like an old coal plant and its prospects are worse than that of clean coal.

But forget that for a moment and focus on the self-inflicted intentional evil of the ICE makers position and stance. Not only are they trying to get away with every bit of interlocked fossil fuel bs they can including pushing the defunct hydrogen fossil fuel bait and switch or saying hybrids are cleaner than EVs or claiming as GM does it can't even go pure BEV by 2035 because of its customers when for context it seems quite unlikely to make it through even next year without being majority BEV due to at least a wait and see effect based on a Tesla's offering that will be much more dissuasive than an Osborn effect against GM's ICE, despite all that where they are worst is on their attitude and outright efforts to prevent the greatest safety advance in history. Take GM, this is the company that put the brain damaging IQ dropping violence inducing lead in the US gasoline and dumbed down US board rooms and politics something fierce with the resultant unleashing of a decades long crime wave (lead didn't just happen in the pipes of Flint) and the company that fought seat belts and fought air bags and fought CARB- this is who they are. This defines them. But Tesla's autopilot apparently even before FSD beta (even with just the old tech) is producing about a 10x reduction in accidents. That is already a greater improvement in safety than the combined effect of safety glass+crumple zones+ disk brakes+ air bags+ seat belts+ABS+stability control+power steering+ better tires+ better mirrors+ better lights+ better ergonomic+ better acceleration and reduction in direct asphyxiations from non toxic vice gas spewing electric powertrains . And what is in FSD beta is a leap about as large as over the currently deployed Tesla build as that build is over the laggard state of legacy safety. Legacy is quaking because the order of magnitude even better stuff is about to drop overnight with an over the air update.

But it gets worse. The other day their baiting and delay tactics slipped out when one off their paid mainstream media liars was talking with Monroe and they were trying to bait him into saying that this greatest ever advance in safety should be delayed by 3 years (media overhaul doesn't even scratch the surface of what is needed,) then they had some placating senators write a regulator saying make it safer- as in come up with an excuse to delay it- the irony! But you must understand that is not so they can catch up- they aren't trying to delay so they can catch up. Their intent has always been to outright kill the technology because there is no scenario where they survive it. They want to delay and delay it some more and delay it again until they can say they tried it and it was impractical like electric cars and the EV1. Surely from the start they were pursuing what even they must have known was not a serious effort but rather dead end vaporware solutions intended to fail and kick the can but when they get called on it they just double down on their bs. Seriously, the stuff Ford and GM have seems less functional than what Tesla had in 2014 when Tesla ditched that their partner (Mobile Eye) that partner ditched themselves and sold out to Intel (seen what's been happening to Intel lately) and Ford bought that stuff which doesn't seem to have a chance in hell- it appears to be a super restricted version of the stuff Tesla had in 2014 that only works in tiny stretches of mapped highway where its chief virtue is pitched by shill outlets like CR telling you that its broke or out of service- how broken it is (the goal of legacy) is pitched as the way to measure it success. GM surely wants to burn customers out on this stuff and they want it to be privacy invading or give that impression anything they can do to market their equivalent of place holder vapor ware, it is not even vaporware its scuttle ware because all the really have boils down to an ad campaign and an effort to undermine the real public interest with propaganda- that's pretty bad and Ford isn't any different nor BMW etc. Its the same old string it along game a game of kick the can. They should self- liquidate, they are in the way and their real obligation both legally and ethically is to society long before it is to their dimwit shareholders.

Their getting in the way of this technology and trying to stop its roll out is costing countless lives just like their trying to foot drag and slow or prevent addressing climate change is putting us all seriously at risk. They never get above the level of cigarette manufacturers selling light cigarettes to teens. That is where they are at that, that is their mindset and their business culture. You'd ask why the hell an entity like CALPERs for instance could ever countenance having any money in them (not investment advice!) as it seems obvious supporting them in any way financially is Darwin award dumb from a society perspective and it would seem that institutions that serve broad swaths of the general public would have a fiduciary duty not to make such investments even if it came down to just seeing the writing on the wall. We're moving toward an era where firms that don't have a social benefit basis don't keep their charter and that was always the way it should have been. You can't be allowed to make money by undermining the public.

Just a note on when GM seemed to be pursuing spammer Google's tech. That tech had the human drone driver vicariously behind the curtain even as it was geo fenced and AI numb with lidar. What were they thinking even then- I mean they had their Cruise blather and were always playing the shell game of people investing in Cruise or their canned Navigant bs that would draw charts with them at the top and Tesla at the bottom and have paid shills in canned media and chat rooms try to reference it. They had that. But what were they thinking did they think that camera staring at your eyes was going to stop the vehicle if you looked away from the ad cramming screen? Was that the lame delusive revenue model?
Maybe they'd have something to read your EEG or pulse too, make you pay to ride plus jam you with ads yet these are the same companies that want to create a crises around privacy for the real tech. This is just like when they were trying to stop the direct sales model. Why should American's in particular be denied this life saving tech or have it delayed? Travesty if LICE were able to succeed on this.
