Behold, the KIA EV6 has debuted. Or, at least a few shots of it and a small blurb of info. It is being used as an introduction to the brand's new styling direction. The full reveal will happen March 30, at 9.00 AM CET (4:00 AM EST). First, here are some pics:
Haven't heard anything about a time, so it appears that it will not be a "live" event but instead a website and PR release, kind of like the release of the teaser images last week. Looking forward to it!
It was Eastern time. Alright, here are some videos they've also released, which are actually more about this new design direction than this actual car.
I'm liking the ratio of the exterior dimensions. Has more of a wagon/estate/shooting brake profile with the longer roofline than the IONIQ 5, which has more of a hatchback look. Also, the extended rear length plus the high trunk looks like it should have more cargo volume in the back than the I5. Curious if the details/specs reveal will be on that March 21 date that @Domenick referenced in the other thread.
@Domenick Looks like we finally have a confirmed date and time for the official premiere. March 30, 9AM Central European Time (1AM PST, 4AM EST). Source: Kia Worldwide Youtube channel. Eh, I'm not staying up this time.... Hopefully they give some concrete actual vehicle details, rather than the "designer" video that Hyundai did with the IONIQ 5 world premiere.
Hmmm - I prefer the Ioniq 5, this reminds me a bit of the Citroen XM I had in the 90s (with all edges smoothed out) And what's that going on over the rear arch - hope its just a trick of the light?
That's great. As I was first looking over the images, I saw older Citroen DS with a similar falling roofline and that bit of rear window overhang. Could find a pic of the DS that captured what I saw in my mind, though. Yours does it perfectly!
I like the design a lot; my concern is with the vertical dimension (height) of the side windows; looks too narrow, and base of window is too high. They may be inspired by the Jaguar iPace design. P.S. that Citroen XM is a great design! I’m aware of the recalls of electric motor E710 of Kia’s Niro for model years 2017-2020.
Tomorrow is the official full reveal. The time isn't too conducive to those of us in North America so I'm going to pass on watching the livestream. Hopefully this one is more detailed than the reveal for the IONIQ 5!
For me, this is the only competition to the AWD ID.4 (prefer hatchback-like over CUV); also like the 800 Volt electrical architecture. My concern is limited availability in the US, just like the Niro EV. VW is committed to a 50 state market.

Thanks Domenick, do you know where / when Kia will open reservation for the EV6 (supposed to be today). I looked in the Kia site but no EV6 to be found.
Checking. I'll update this post when I find out. Edit*: So, I've reached out to Kia and will update when I hear back, but I don't expect they'll say more at this point aside from "It will go on-sale in select global markets starting from the second half of 2021, with online reservations beginning from March 30 in some markets." Update*: As expected, they aren't saying anything at this point.
Kia is showing off the vitesse (that's the hoity-toity word for speed) of the EV6 with a little 400-meter drag race. That's about 8 feet short of a quarter-mile, but close enough.
Here is the worldwide reservation site. For North America, it is still “keep me updated” no reservation available. https://worldwide.kia.com/int/ev6
I generally like it, & I guess would probably have chosen it this sporty looking supercar over the I5 30 years ago, but right now, I'm very happy to have gone with the more sober I5 - it shows your age when you choose comfort & practicalities over speed & performance. "Big deal" about having access to the Ionity charging network for a whole year!! {This deal also applies to the I5} There's only 12 Ionity stations in England, I'm in the midlands so my nearest is just 90 miles away in Blackburn!!
