After 3.5 years of happy cohabitation with my Clarity, I ran into this issue just today. Door will beep, but it seems it incompletely unlock, since I had to pull really hard in order to open the door. Hope I didn't do any damage. Then this thread came back from the Dead just in perfect timing. Hope somebody found a solution.

So is everyone just driving around with broken door lock or what? This thread is now pretty old yet no one replied with a fix?

My Clarity has started doing the 'driver door not unlocked' problem. All of the other doors will unlock, so it does not seem to be a fob or computer problem. It is very intermittent. Probably 8 times in the last month (doors are locked /unlocked two or three times every day).

I unlock my doors by pulling the driver's door handle, and I can hear the rest of the doors click. I can pull the handle multiple times, and the other doors will continue to have softer clicks as they pretend to unlock (already unlocked). The driver door may click quietly, but I am not sure... Using the fob does not unlock the stuck driver's door. I lock the doors by pressing the button on the driver's door.

I am getting better at reaching through the rear drivers' side door to pull the handle and open the driver's door.

Our 2018 Clarity Touring started having locking and unlicking issues with th driver's door several months ago. It was intermitant at first. A few weeks ago the problem occured nearly all the time. Working the lock mechanically with the key would often clear the issues for a day or two but two weeks ago, that temporary fix no longer worked. It seemed to me that the door actuator had failed in some way. We have the HondaCare extended warrenty and took the Clarity to the dealer to have the problem checked out and fixed. The door actuator was diagnosed as bad and a new part was ordered. We have an appointment to have the actuator replaced next week.

It was a pain to need to use the key to lock the Clarity. Since it appears that Honda Civics also have a similar door actuator issues, I am not surprised that Clarity's are also showing the same problem.

My car is out of warranty, so I may try to fix it myself. Can you get the part number(s) that was ordered?

It took about two weeks to get the replacement door latch assembly. The defective latch assembly was replaced today and the the driver's door now locks and unlocks with the remote, the door button, or by walking away, etc. The part number of the new latch is 72150-TRT-A02. There was no charge since the repair was done under the HondaCare extended warranty.

I asked if I could have the defective part. The dealer's service manager said that I could have the part if Honda did not ask for its return in the next thirty days. If I get the part next month, I will try to determine what failed and if the latch can be repaired. Since Honda Civics seem to have similar problem latches that can sometimes be repaired, I am optimistic.

Thanks for the update, I wrote up a diagnosis procedure here https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/mini-guide-door-wont-lock-or-unlock-diagnosing-the-latch-actuator.18272/

Im waiting for my part to arrive (probably a few weeks), I ordered from 3rd party online but it is OEM part.
    Latch Assembly L Front
    72150-TRT-A02
    $137.59

Honda could get it next day but for $240.
