When I look at the monthly sales numbers on the great Inside EVs report and don't see very high numbers of the i3 selling. It is about $10K higher than a similar size and performance KIA SOUL EV so I wonder what is keeping the numbers down. Maybe they sell more in Europe since that is where BMW is home to. The gas prices are also not subsidised in Europe so they can pay for them self there. Sales are only 5-700 a month. While Tesla is 1-5,000 a month.
BMW also offers a large number of PHEV's. While no single model sells in high numbers, they add up. This variety of choices probably doesn't help i3 sales any! But a variety of vehicles is great for consumers. I just wish some of their other plug ins had anywhere near the efficiency and EV range of the i3.
