Just got my HV range fixed today then filled up the tank. This is what it is showing on a full tank. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Thanks, I never realized that works with the 'Low Fuel' warning too. I know I use it often for other alerts like 'low tire pressure' and 'service required'. I don't know why I didn't think of trying that for the low fuel warning.
I had about 4.3 gallons in the tank and it was showing HV 263, if I remember correctly Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
I'm sitting in the Honda waiting room while they do the HV update. Walking around I see 6 Claritys on the lot. Half are base models. I'm surprised to see this many as I've only seen one other Clarity around town and this is a small city of just 90,000 population. Actually I learned there were 7 Clarity cars on the lot, and more being delivered soon. I'm told they have sold 3 since December. If you're in California and looking for a Clarity check Crown Honda in Redding.
My update is complete and the HV reads 357. It read 357 a couple of days ago but had dropped to about 330 before the update. It took about 1 1/2 hours to do the update - at least that's how long they had the car.
Thanks to all the posters! I'm excited to get this fix done. It'll be a couple of weeks before I get a chance to take it in.
All - Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this Forum - it was very helpful with my lease decision. Just came home with a new Clarity Touring and asked the dealer before I picked it up to apply this SB update. The Service Manager told me they checked my VIN number - which is close to 11000 - and it did not call for the update. The dealer took delivery in early June and I purposely asked for a later build Clarity, hoping some of the early bugs have been worked with increased production. Ultimately I told the dealer I will drive the car for a few weeks and check back if the HV range continues to be higher then "357" (it showed "380" when I picked it up tonight with a full tank of gas!). On a related note, I had the Clarity in "Economy" mode and the ICE engine did not turn on in my short drive home from the dealer - which included a drive up a 500 ft 1/2 mile hill.
You’ll know it needs the update the first time you fill up and the HV range jumps dramatically, but only if you mix in a lot of EV with your HV miles. Only with a lot of recent HV miles will it remain low without the update.
Did my update. Went from 1010 miles down to 397. I still do not think I could go 397 miles on a full charge and tank. Honda only advertises 360 miles range...right? Anyway....its better to say the least.
Anyone know what the service number is for Canada? My dealer had no info on any update... Thanks (and of course my HV reading is totally bogus)
Did you got your car very recently ? I got delivery on 25th , so Hope the software is updated. Do I need to go separately AGAIN ?
The part that was on backorder to fix P26A3:Electric Water Valve Malfunction finally came in so I took my car in today. While there I got the software update for the range. I never had the problem with high range because I drive my car different than most. To preserve the battery, I never go below 50% and I only charge it up to 95%. One day a week I will charge to 100% for cell balancing. My commute is 28 miles one way and mostly highway so I will switch to HV mode for about 5 minutes of the 30 minute drive. Anyway when it I took it in the HV Range was 307 miles and tank was 81% full. Got it back and the mileage went up to 313. Filled up with 1.356 gallons and it didn't change. If I extrapolate backwards that would mean 387 miles on a full tank, but I take that with a grain of salt as the fuel consumption is not perfectly linear and there is probably a little bit more than 7 gallons of capacity in the gas tank.
